God bless him. And keep him safe. I'm so thankful there are these fearless souls.

The few . . . the proud . . .

My brothers were both Marines. Terry received his dress blues from leatherneck Magazine for being honorman of his platoon. At 6'7" he was an imposing and handsome figure. His drill instructor loved him, as did all his commanders. He could have become a leader. He wanted to drive tanks, and learned to telescope his long, lean body into the drivers seat of his tank to complete his missions in Vietnam. His last mission was a supply run and to escort a medical evacuation . . . when his tank hit a land mine. My brother Mike was promptly discharged from the reserves at that point.

As I do for all Marines, because they are the first to enter the danger zones of the world, I offer my prayers for peace and protection for your nephew, PFC Mattice, that his name may grace many contracts and certificates, loans and letters over the course of a long life.
