Happy Passover, Cyn! I hope you enjoy a wonderful Seder dinner. My church does one every year and I love going.

@ Tricia - thanks. I would love to hear how it is done in your church.
@ Koala - At Passover a service is performed using a book called a Haggadah. The content of the book is a story about freedom basically. The very last thing said with the final glass of wine is "Next year in Jerusalem!" The phrase was probably put in due to the diaspora that began around the eighth century BCE and added to the service around the 1930's. I would have loved to visit Israel before MS took my body in its current direction. Both of my kids have been there, a foundation was set up many years ago that sends 18-24 year olds there on a free vacation! They get the normal vacation experience with a trip to the Wailing Wall, swim in the Dead Sea, visit an archeological site, ride a camel. It sounds like fun to me. Sounds like so much fun. |

Cyn - At my church, there is a couple that come. She is Catholic and he is Jewish. He leads the dinner. He speaks in Hebrew and then English and then explains the meaning behind the food and traditions. And let me tell you, the food is fantastic. I started bringing my girls when they were little. I felt it was so important for them to learn about the Jewish religion, after all, Jesus was Jewish and these are the traditions that he grew up with.
As DD19 got older, one of her high school friends is Jewish. Through out her high school years, she would celebrate some of the Jewish holidays with her friend and her family. She has fallen in love with traditional Jewish cooking. |
