Mad Another MS Society Rant

SO I received an email today inviting me to the MS Family Day in Richmond (50+ miles away). It's at the diamond, the local baseball team is playing a game and there will be food.

So I checked out the page. They want $28 per person to go to this event. The food they advertised is going to be hot dogs/ hamburgers, a bag of chips and a soda.

Mind you the regular price for tickets is between $7 and $11 dollars per person. The MOST EXPENSIVE ticket you can buy for a regular game is $11.

So essentially, for those of us who have MS to get together and enjoy a local game, we must pay an extra $17 for a burger a .50 cent bag of chips and a .75 cent soda.

Why do they not host family friendly events for those of us with MS at a reduced or free cost? I think with the constant fundraisers and money making events they hold year round, they could afford to actually do something for the people who are living with this disease.

This annoys me to no end. Maybe I am crazy and I should support them, but it seems every event or sale type of thing they have are just ridiculously overpriced.

The MS wine for example... I live near the wineries. I can go get a bottle (not that I can drink thanks to the darn meds) of the same wine for $15 a bottle at most. The wine that is on sale to raise funds was $40 last time I checked. Why not make it more reasonable, say $25?

I would respond to their email with all the questions you just posted.

Let us know what they say!

Is this event a fundraiser for contributors and supporters? If so, then it should be at the very minimum cost for MS sufferers who attend.

Tell em Sally said so..

They call me 2x a year asking me to fill out those stupid cards to mail to my friends and neighbors (like the vacuum salesman does when they want referrals) and I keep telling them I CANT see well enough to do this and STOP calling me! yet 2x per year...brrrrring! its them!

I think thats shameful to over charge the MS folks themselves for a game. How sad.
