Mother's presence was really felt and missed. I guess that's all I need to say.

Aw, Doydie. The holiday's are always rough.
I miss my family, too, but it's more apparent around the holidays. I hope you and your family had a nice dinner remembering all the good times you had together with your Mom.

My Dad had a tradition that he would get a roll, put a slice of cranberry sauce on it and eat it. That was his sign that diiner was over, time for the ladys to clean the table and get the desert out. So as we were eating lunch today we were trying to imagine at what point he would have done that. Mom didn't like it at all so I'm not sure she woulds be admonishing him up there or not.

Isn't it wonderful how little things like that (your Dad and his roll) become such a tradition to us. I have good memories of my Dad, too, and I treasure them.

I understand. Holidays are hard.
I didn't even cook Easter dinner this year because my Grandma has been too much on my mind this year. That was the last holiday that I cooked for her right before she died 2 years ago. It didn't affect me as much last year because there was a lot going on, but it was quiet enough this year that I couldn't get her out of my mind.

I was depressed last night that I can't even consider me being part of Mothers Day this year. My DH says I'm not his Mom so that's why he never does anything for me. My kids don't have any money at all. When we go out, we pay all their expenses. Our daughter here in town say that DH irritates them so much that if ti weren't for me they wouldn't get together with us at all. It's like we are paying for their company. And I know that my other daughter can't get here from out of town. Their cat can barely make it around town. So I wold like to forget about Mothers Day. I'm still waiting on a Christmas present from him and birthday present. I sound so materialistic but when it's year after year after year eventually it gets on you. And this year it does.
