Default score 1 for the patient!

Overheard this the other day in the hospital's infusion ward:

Doctor was berating a patient (with MS) in the hallway. She had teken herself off the CRABs because she said they made her feel like crap warmed over. Neuro publicly scolder her, going on about how he knew better what was best for her and said "...that's why it says M.D. after my name!"

She shot back "Oh yeah, well I have MS after mine. When you also have that you can tell me what to do!"

I swear I almost clapped & cheered for her out loud You go girl!

I am so glad the girl stood her ground.

There are good drs. with great bedside manners and then there are those that are just horrible! After years of working in the hospital, I've seen both. I even made a list of drs. I would never see under any circumstance and gave it to my dr as well as my mom. (DDs were too young at the time). It blows my mind sometimes how some drs. treat their patients.

thats it exactly. they are trained to treat disease.

they don't treat the patients, they treat the disease.
the good ones realize that there is a person along with the disease. A
nd that both the person and the ailment need good care!

what an awful comment(s) to make. but, i'm glad he did it so publicly so she could shoot back with a great answer. i'd love to see that on a t-shirt.

some people, drs, are just unbelievable.
