I must say that's a big issue to have to deal with...you as a mother, and DD as a daughter. I definitely understand. I'm currently awaiting my confirmation of graduating from college...graduation is tomorrow. I've seen all of these responses, but I didn't see prayer in any of them. The most important thing you two can. I needed 444 points to pass a class...I had 262. God showed up and showed out. I made an A on the next two projects and a 112 on the final. I'm still stressing about my other grades, but faith, prayer and the song "It Ain't Over" by Maurette Clark are putting me at ease. Remember...it's not what man says, it's what God says. He can turn that thing around and the 1 credit might not even matter. I'll keep you guys in my prayers!!!

Actually, it's mentioned in post #10.

She should be able to go to summer school for this one credit.

You should be able to have her walk with her class at graduation and receive a blank diploma. I know a lot of kids who did this! I would talk to her principal about this one lousey credit and taking a summer class. Ask that she walk with her class at graduation and receive a blank diploma, if she enrolls in summer school!

The graduation itself is just a formality, but she should not miss out. For goodness-sake!!!!! Get them to let her walk and give a blank diploma!

The school principal is scheduled to call me no later than the end of school today to set up a time to meet with me & DH. I hope we can get a positive resolution to this. All we want is for her to walk with her class, that is it. She is prepared to do the work and earn her diploma. The ceremony is set for sunday june 5th, and there is no where else I'd rather be.
DD is really upset about this, and Oito honor the love I have for the special bond we share...for her 18th bday gift, I surprised her with matching mother/daughter tattoos for each of us. She never in a million years ever thought I would get a tatoo, but I really wanted to show her how much she means to me and give her something special to remember her 18th bithday.
I wanted to post a picture, but I'm using my smart phone, which isn't smart enough to have the smarts to pull a picture out of the smart phone album! I will post it when I log back into my laptop. My DD seems to have a brighter outlook on this 'obstacle', and she is not going to give up without fighting for what she believes in.

To be continued.....

Don't take it too hard, Amy. I had a couple of teens go the "alternative" route, and they turned out just fine.

One ended up being on the Dean's list in tech college and got her Associate's degree.

The other recently aced some tests and was awarded his Electrical Journeyman's license.

Speaking from experience, I'd be more worried about the boyfriend breakup. I hope you both can keep your chins up thru this difficult time and someday are able to look back upon it as just a "bump in the road."

We have an appointment with the Principal and Assistant Principal tomorrow at 1:30. I am so glad that DH will be there. We have been talking about it all day, it hopes of preparing me to not 'break' down tomorrow.

I have to keep positive, and have been visualizing her walking in her cap and gown with the rest of her class....

Here is the picture of the tatoo DD and I got. It is the chinese symbol for Mother/Daughter. The Lotus Flower is symbolic because "the lotus blooms and produces seeds at the same time, and thus represents the simultaneity of cause and effect. The circumstances and quality of our individual lives are determined by the causes and effects, both good and bad, that we accumulate (through our thoughts, words and actions) at each moment. This is called our "karma." The law of cause and effect explains that we each have personal responsibility for our own destiny. We create our destiny and we can change it." www.sgi-usa.org

My wish is that DD can grow through these 'murky' times and develop into the beautiful flower I know she is.

I will let you know how it turns out. I hope I have good news to share.
