Default Comfort clothing--you get what you pay for

What I want to wear all summer, unless I have no choice, are muumuus or "patio dresses" as they are sometimes called. (Well, second choice after jammies).

I'd really like about five or six of the nice ones from the Vermont Country Store, but they're $40-60 apiece, and that just isn't in the budget. I've looked on ebay, but not much selection. So I end up buying a couple from someplace crappy like Dr. Leonard or Blair. They don't fit right, they don't look right, and I end up unhappy. *sigh*

I think I'm going to look for a pattern and try to make a couple. No zippers, no buttonholes...and if it takes me six months, so what? Actually it will probably take me six months to figure out how to thread my sewing machine. If I can find it. Do sewing machines have shelf life?

Look at the Denim and Co. line of clothing at QVC. They have lots of comfortable things and a whole line of pants, capris and shorts that have elastic waist. And they fit well! They don't fit like the cheaply made "stretch pants" from the discount store. I have a bunch of their things and they're really cute!

I wish I could wear dresses, shorts, skirts, etc. during the summer. For some weird sensory reason, I can no longer do that. I can't tolerate the skin on my legs touching each other. It's so bizarre. So my wardrobe for the summer is light weight capris if I am going out anywhere, and while in the house, my thin cotton pj bottoms.

You are right though, you get what you pay for. I am careful where I shop. Most clothes that we have bought from Wal-Mart or K-mart has fallen apart. I used to get the girls school clothes there as I knew they would out grow them quickly. I don't get any clothes there now.

I have found some nice ones on Ebay...

Try searching for "caftans"... and alternate keywords. Moo Moo or muu muu sometimes only brings up the authentic Hawaiian type and those can get pricey.

You have to be patient on Ebay for things like this. And now that the season is heating up these will be popular and go fast.
You need to check at least every other day.

You might find some on Etsy too.

Gone are the days when I used to waltz into Sear's and pick up one or two for that summer for a song! sigh... out of fashion now basically I think.

I am wearing my fave short moo moo right now as I type this! LOL

Yes, ebay has lots of Denim & Co items, too. If I find something I really like at another web site I always look on ebay before buying.

Yup, ebay's my first stop also! Mostly I wear Land's End knit pants of various styles with tee shirts in the summer and sweatshirts in the winter. Dress-up means instead of a tee, I wear a Lands End sleeveless knit top with a shirt or blouse over it, in the winter a sweater and turtleneck.

I'm constantly amazed at the many things I DON'T wear anymore, such as jeans, belts, pantyhose, pumps, things that require ironing or dry-cleaning, etc.

I go for comfort, too. Luckily, there are lots of cute clothes now that are comfortable but don't look too dowdy. On days I stay home and inside I usually just put on shorts and a t-shirt. I found some cute Polo shirt dresses on QVC and they are so comfy in the summer. I can wear them and just slip on some sandals if I need to go anywhere.

I have a comfy pair of undies that I love love love, but my local stores never have it in my color or size. I wrote down the model # and so forth, and emailed a place like undewear.com. Great prices! the more I searched the happier I was, and was going to get free shipping if I spent more than $25. well, when they arrived, they looked exactly the same, and kinda felt exactly the same, but kinda werent exactly the same. I tried them on and was very disappointed. The material didnt have the same give to it, and they felt tight in the legs. its the EXACT same model #! how can this be?

Last time I order a comfy fav from a place I cant try it on, or touch the quality of the fabric for myself. I was stuck with 7 pairs of expensive panties that cannot be returned due to "health laws" in the state of origin. I dontated them to the salvation army.

Make sure if you order by mail they have a good return policy.

OK, I just placed an order with National for a couple of dresses. I got a nice email saying "Your order has been placed! If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, Sally will refund your money!"
