The older you get, the lighter it should be because it settles into wrinkles anyway. I use a tinted moisturizer that is SPF 30 and good face, eye and neck cream. I use blush, mascara and brow makeup since my brows are very sparce as well. Most days I don't get time for the mascara and blush though. But the moisturizer and brows are a must for me.

Okay, I'm the last one standing. I wear it all. I am pale blonde, with fair skin so I look like a stick of butter if I don't break it up with pink shaded colors, and dark eye liners, etc. Since I was 11 years old I have worn make-up. I feel nekked without it.
I don't even go to the parking lot dumpster without my make-up on. I am an old broad, but I love make-up and jewelry. Real jewelry or what I call my good junk. I have friends and family, who have made me jewelry and my grandkids give me stuff they pick out in school fairs. I wear it for them, and me. I was always a Tom-boy but a girlie Tom-boy. If some shiny, bright pink lip-gloss comes off, I put it back on again. I polish my nails and love all colors. If I get it on my skin due to a hand tremor, it comes off in a few hand washes. I won't let any disease take away what I love. It took dancing, but I am working on that. Everyday I practice one hip-hop step. I saw a video on you tube and loved it. It helps with balance and great exercise. Still a NYC girl at heart. It's where I worked.

Lady, you'll probably be the most stylish person at the parking lot dumpster!
I used to be a real fanatic about fingernails. If there was a new shade of polish on the market, I was interested in trying it. I understand.

I was never really big on nail polish. I only have 9 fingernails. (have all 10 fingers tho)
Painting my nails would always make it really obvious that I'm missing a fingernail. (Left index fingernail. born without it. congenital birth defect. Cousin has a couple of kids who are missing several fingernails, and one kid who's missing his ears. At least I've got all my fingers and toes and ears) I tried the press on nails on the funky finger, but that never really worked. I have two little pieces of nailbed on that finger, and press on nails wont stick to them because those pieces stick out a bit if I dont trim them back, and there's skin in between the two bits of nailbed and press on nails would never stick to that either. I'm also missing a toenail on my left index toe. But, that one I got rid of on purpose. It was growing weird (probably a similar thing to the fingernail) and I'd damaged it or something and had a fungus or did something to the nailbed. It was ugly so I had a foot doctor make it go away. Painful as hell to do that...never doing it again. My boyfriend said he likes me without makeup and nail polish. Thinks that I dont need all that. Saves me a heck of a lot of time getting ready to go anywhere with him.

when I go for manicures or pedicure they tell me I am no fun because I choose NO polish. not even clear. its just something that will chip and I will have to remove it later. Give me the buff look and charge me less please.
I can picture this dolled up lady throwing her trash out at the dumpster, all picutre perfect. too cute.

My Mom was sort of like that. She always put on lipstick and powder before even going to the mailbox! She didn't wear alot of makeup but she did wear some and always tried to make us girls aware of what we were wearing and how we looked. Never to be flashy or try to one-up anyone....just to be clean and neat and presentable. She was the epitome of a "lady".
Pedicures are my one treat. I always get a pink "summer" nail color. It seems to last quite well until my next pedi.

That's funny, I do my fingernails but never my toenails. I can't stand anyone touching my feet, but me. I just trim and keep them clean. They feel good after my shower when I put tons of lotions on them to keep them soft and smooth.
I have feet like a baby..but they burn and so do my legs with the MS. That symptom has been a bit better, or not every two hours as before, but the intensity is right up there on the MS pain list as nasty. Trying to cure that is like trying to

I used to wear makeup ever day. I also used to wear heels everyday. Now a days you are lucky if I am not in my Pjs when you see me. My hair is either in a ponytail or a bun because I don't like it touching me and I don't have the energy or the will to cut it short and have to style it.
Maybe once every other month you can catch me with makeup on. Even then there isn't a lot there. I have found the perfect mascara that makes my eyes pop. I have to use an eyebrow pencil since I dyed my hair because my brows are blonde and my hair is a reddish brown now. If I have no plans to leave the house I don't bother with that either. I have found I can't wear earrings anymore. No matter what they are made of. They just irritate my ears.

I too used to wear make-up every day when I was working and even for a while after I stopped working. It always made me feel "pretty." I don't do that anymore. I probably should as there is a lot to be said about it but I don't really go anywhere. I have always worn my make up light. Nothing heavy, just enough to enhance. If anything, just putting on eye make and mascara can do the trick and I sometimes do that right before DBF comes home to look nice for him. If I am going out, I do the whole deal but, again, I don't do anything heavy - light and natural looking.
Since I have tremors, putting eye make up on is a challenge but weighting down my hand helps me to get it on right. I'm right handed and that's the hand that is impaired the most. I use my right hand to do my right eye and my left hand to do my left eye. My left eye ALWAYS looks better and neater than my right. |
