Default It's my 21st wedding Anniversary today!

Guess what my DH bought me for our Anniversary? (scroll down)

Well?............

Any ideas??

A new toilet and 'special' seat that 'gently closes' on its own! My hubby is the BEST! Since he gutted our bathroom to the studs, we just couldn't see putting our 20 year old 'throne' back in the new bathroom, and when we were picking out our fixtures, I sat on the displays and found one that was taller than a standard toilet, so it will be 16-17" rather than 14" and I will appreciate the extra height for sure. He also got us a seat that can't slam down. Since I am really grossed out by toilet seats that are left in the 'up' position, and it makes me feel really yucky if I have to touch the seat, so I usually give it a quick jab to knock the seat down. DH got tired of hearing that, so we came up with a different solution. He feels the same way about the seat, however he doesn't think he should have to put it back down when he is done using it. I, on the other hand... beg to differ with that line of thinking. I feel that if you lift the seat 'up', you should put it back 'down' when you are done.

What are your thoughts?

Oh, definitely put the seat back down! Why is it so hard for men to do this? Amy, this would make a great poll subject!

I hope you enjoy your new "throne" and I'm so happy that DH got you such a thoughtful gift. I would be thrilled with it - especially the height! Funny how the things that make us happy changes so much throughout the years, isn't it?!

COOL! The best thing is that you both found a comfortable solution to a very annoying problem in most households!

Congratulations on your anniversary!

A toilet is great! I love practical gifts and a toilet is definitely one of the most practical gifts.

As of the seat up or down issue, DBF and I each have our own bathrooms. He can leave the seat up all he wants. His bathroom is off the master bedroom and mine is the "guest" bathroom in the hall. It works out just fine.

Kudos, I can see by your willingness to compromise how you managed to stay happily married for so long. Great gift, good job, DH. Many more happy anniversaries to you both.

No flowers? No card? No dinner date?

Sounds like he knows what would make you happy . . . and that is all that counts! But he could have at least floated some petals in the bowl . . .

I do like cards but I'd much rather the toilet than flowers, lol. Years ago a friend did the trail of rose petals down the hall to the bedroom.

Knowing my DH as I do I asked him what he would do if he came home to a trail of rose petals and the dear man replied, "I'd probably grab the vacuum".
