Default God Speed Atlantis, farewell Shuttle program and ...

Tom, does your job suddenly get really boring?

The launch of the final ever of the Shuttle program. Atlantis' liftoff was picture perfect. I always paid attention to every Atlantis launch because I remember STS-51J when I was in FL on October 3, 1985 visiting my grandparents and we went and saw Atlantis launch for the first time. It has always been my favorite shuttle. I plan on going to see it when it's retired close up and personal.

God speed Atlantis, come home safe for your retirement.

I wonder what happens to the space program now. I saw on TV that the soonest we will be in space again under our own power will be 5 years from now, until then we are hitching rides with the Russians.

So Tom, what will you be doing at work? I gotta ask my cousin's husband who works with you there in Houston.

WoooooHoooooo Atlantis, we hardly knew Ya!!

Thanks Tom, for all the work you did to make it all possible. If my memory serves me, you will not be at this launch, but back in Houston, doing important things.

My biggest memories are back in the Apollo days (I was a baby..lol) What's next? A new mission, retirement?

How are you feeling?

Atlantis is my favorite shuttle too. (at least since Challenger was destroyed)

I think I'm going to miss America having a space program. (I remember being obsessed with space when I was little. Wanted to be an astronaut)
