Default I'm in a conundrum

We finally got all Mom's accounts taken care of after she died and all us four kids were left with a small amount of money, emphasis on small. I love electronics. I have a small camera, Sony Powershot which has done well for quite a few years. It had settings on it that I have no idea how to use so have never used them. I have been looking at a Canon supershot that has a lot of settings that seem to be a lot easier to use than my Sony. I also have interest in an Ipad. But I'm wondering if I want an Ipad just because it's an Ipad. I'm not even sure what an Ipad does. And do I really need a new camera. Is the main problem the fact that I have some money bur,ing in my pocket?

Ah to dream of wealth, even if just a tiny bit. Sometimes we want stuff just because we want stuff. I have talked myself into and out of an IPAD for a year now. I would go to a store and have one demonstrated for you, so someone can show you the difference between that and a small lap top which would be cheaper and do more things. You can play angry birds on a lap top too now. With the android market its amazing how fast personal computers are doing the same things the IPAD was doing.

As for Cameras oh man! can I help you there!

http://1saleaday.com/ has a new set of merchandise everyday! it changes every 24 hours and they frequently put cameras in there for pennies on the dollar. same things you find in the store or...

http://www.bensoutlet.com/ they currently have an HD camera that is nice for $34! its the same one sears sells for 120. Their merchandise changes all the time as well. read the fine print. 90% of its new, but now and again, it will say refurbished on it. Read ALL the print. Just because its a good deal, doesnt mean you should jump before you read it all. make sure you know ALL the specs, like does it have a flash? or does it take HD movies? how are the movies stored? that kind of thing? do I need to buy a SD card? ...

I vote that you dream away with the money and let your mind race wild, but when it comes time to actually spend it, make sure that every penny sings before it leaves your pocket.

Your mom would be so proud of you!

I have an iPad, and I love it, but really...it's a really large ipod touch.

Pretty much all of the apps that I've downloaded to the ipad will work on my ipod.

Which do you think you would use more? The ipad or a new camera?

I take my ipod touch with me everywhere! I have all my audio books on it, my games, my contacts, my schedules and my skype. I can use it just like an iphone, but must have an internet connection to do it. Love it! its my best loved toy.

I do the same thing with my ipod touch. I always have it. My iPad stays at home, but my touch goes everywhere with me.

I have a Nook color so I have something for my Angry birds and several other cool apps I like and of course it's also my E reader. I have a desk top and a laptop, Angry birds is on both! $330 doesn't go to far!

Forgot to say as far as a cell phone, I or I guess I should say, my husband and I share a small tracphone!

I appears both Dejibo and Erin have answered the question quiet well for you already. The answer is to simply read up on both products on the Internet and decide which might be the best investment. Since this is really, "found money," you might attempt to get away with the, "but I really don't NEED IT," thinking. I have that challenge a lot, spending more time on indecision than making the decision and enjoying the results.

Conundrum is a very accurate word to describe this situation. Best of luck as I know you will enjoy which ever you decide.

I do have to say that the ipad is really really really cool and I do love it, even if it's a giant ipod touch.

I'm a gadget-a-holic. I love electronics. ipads, computers, cameras, ereaders. (I have 3 digital cameras and four computers, two Kindles)

Like Craig said, you might be able to get what you want using the "dont need, but I WANT it" logic. Read about which thing you're thinking about getting, and then figure out which you'll use more and have more fun with.

You might end up seeing some other thing you want and getting that instead of a camera or ipad.

You can get a new fancy well rounded i5 computer/laptop for the same money as the Ipad, and it will do more stuff, but sometimes you want what you want, and nothing else will do.

I think just as much fun can be had from the research and the hunt as from the actual item itself.

I too am a gadget girl. love them! I have fancy camera's a 10 inch laptop a 17 inch laptop a desktop with a terrabyte hard drive in it and all the toys, I have the Wii, PS3, and so on. love love love my gadgets, but the one I depend on most is that MP3 player or the IPOD touch. I do my calendar, my schedule, keep track of meds, injections, and it tucks neatly into my pocket or my little wallet purse. its my 2nd one. I got rid of the first one when the 2nd generation came out with a camera in it, and I thought that would be one less thing to drag around with me.

Let us know what you find.

Well I bought the camera. After reading some of the remarks I realized that with the lap top, desk top and Nook I really didnt' NEED the IPAD. So I bought a Canon power shot SX130
