The nurse I had talked to spoke of one elderly woman who had a little tattoo above one breast...it looked like a long snake now...
Life has put enough marks on my bod without me going out and paying for it... |

Yikes...I am feeling a bit queasy now. Thanks deb;) |
I know this is a relatively serious thread, well in the beginning any way. But reading some of the newer posts have to actually laugh and here is why.
My college age daughter wanted a tattoo, had picked it out and I helped her find a highly qualified professional studio to have it done. It was a small two and a half inch dragon on her upper left shoulder blade. While having the procedure done, a woman on vacation came in thinking seriously on getting a small tattoo for herself but very anxious about the whole idea. Seeing my daughter in the chair she walks ups and asks her about the tattoo, why she picked it, does it hurt and all of the typical questions. Then she says, quite loudly, "And what does your father think of you getting a tattoo like this young lady?" :plain: My daughter smiled and motioning over said, "Well, I'm not really sure. Why don't you go over and ask him while he's getting his done." The whole place broke out in laughter including the lady. :holysheep: Yes, she did get a little two inch Dolphin on her outside right ankle that looked great. |
UPDATE: Something really nice happened last night. DS called me about 9 PM. Said he would be coming over to visit today and maybe we could go get lunch somewhere. Of course I said come on over anytime.
After we chatted a while - with no mention of the dreaded tattoo from either of us (remember....he doesn't know that I know about it) - and out of the blue he said "you know, I'll be getting my bonus money in this coming paycheck." I really wasn't sure when he was going to receive it so I said "how exciting!". Now, I thought he was building up to tell me about the tattoo because he said "I've been thinking about what I want to do with the extra money." I bit my tongue and said "well, it's an opportunity to pay off some of your bills". He said he was thinking along those lines and then he said "I want to pay off your furniture bill, Mom".  I'm paying on some (much needed) living room furniture I bought over a year ago and he knows I've still got a little ways to go before it's paid for. :circlelove: I was nearly in tears......he HAD been thinking of what he could do with this bonus money and it wasn't about getting a tattoo! Of course, I told him I wanted him to pay on his car - to get ahead and reduce the principle so he can own it sooner. He said "no, this is what I want to do with this bonus money. I'll be getting another bonus check in a few months and I can use that for getting ahead on my own bills". I told him that just the fact he offered meant the world to me and we'd talk about it more when he came over. I can't take his money. But just knowing he came to the decision on his own means so much to me. He has many things he could use the money to pay off or get ahead with. Just wanted to brag a little and report that, for once, it has paid off for me to have kept my mouth shut!! :o |
Oh Kitty!
This news is absolutely unbearable. Your son is giving up an outstanding opportunity to permanently engrave colored ink into his skin with sharp needles, covering his arm with a sleeve tattoo and paying for it with his hard earned bonus money and for WHAT? To do something wonderful for the mom he loves so much to help pay off her furniture debt. Applying a key principle in life many never learn and that is to give to those who need with whatever we may have, starting with the ones closest to us. I'm sorry Kitty, this young man sounds like he has had one outstanding up- bringing in his family. Luckily his mom knows when the parenting stops and the deep seeded love of friendship begin between a parent and a grown child. You are both so blessed and I bid Peace be with you all. |
Aaawwww Kitty...you are truly blessed by a wonderful son!!

Ditto on all the above, Kell and I think you should give him the opportunity to do this nice thing for his Mother. Don't be a poor receiver..:D
