Default Oh Amazon, you're making this difficult. (Kindle related post)

I am such a gadget junkie, and Amazon is making it really difficult for me to resist.

They just announced the Kindle Fire (a tablet ereader, similar to the NookColor, selling for $199) and the new Kindle Touch ($99wifi only, $149 with 3g)...along with another Kindle that doesnt have a keyboard that's selling for $79 if you want ads, $109 ad-free. (they still have the Kindle 3, which is being renamed the Kindle Keyboard)

I want the Kindle Fire and the Kindle Touch!! (if I get one, it'll be the Fire)

Now I have to figure out if I should sell my Kobo and one of my Kindles so that I can justify getting another ereader. (I have a Kindle 2, a Kindle 3, a Kobo and an iPad) I may just end up using one of my Kindles and the Kobo as Christmas presents to my sister and b-in-law...not sure what to do yet.

is it sad that I still want the NookColor too??

I am such a gadget junkie, and Amazon is apparently my gadget connection.

My little Kindle 3 with wifi is just fine and dandy. Just as my Dell 2000 laptop is dandy. I don't need more, so I tell myself I don't want more.. It's how I was raised.

Your Pop spoils you..

I still want that Kindle Fire... (I am so addicted to gadgets...it's sad)

I'm probably going to be selling my Kobo and my Kindle 2, or giving them away to family members...depends on whether the people I want to gift them to want an ereader.

My cellphone died this afternoon, so my dad and I just got back from "buying" Android phones. ("free" phone at the Sprint kiosk in Sam's Club...the $36 activation fee doesnt really make me think it was "free" tho) We cant go without phones here. My mom is starting to get a bit of dementia or something and so my dad and I pretty much have to be able to call each other. We try to always have someone with her.

So, the "free" phone just took away some of the available money for the Kindle Fire that I want. I really would like to be one of the first to get the Fire, but maybe I will wait a few weeks/months before I get one (just in case it fails miserably when it gets released in November). See if my credit card points can accumulate some more so I can get an Amazon gift card and see how much change I can save in my Penny Cow bank. Maybe if I go to a Coinstar machine at the right time, I can get an Amazon card there too.

It might be kind of fun to be able to buy a Kindle Fire from loose change that I save. (that's how I save up for Kindle books, I get Amazon gift cards from Coinstar when I cash in my loose change) I dont have to save up that much, I could probably get the new Kindle Touch with my loose change and credit card points right now, so I dont have far to go to be able to afford the Kindle Fire. I'd prefer the Fire over the Kindle Touch... Hopefully it wont take long to save up the rest. Might be interesting to see how quick my loose change accumulates.

I was just checking them out online today. I don't have an ereader but am seriously thinking of getting one. The library now has books you can download. I have difficulty with the touch screens because of my fingers so the Kindle touch is out. I'm thinking of the Kindle Keyboard because it can hold twice as many books. Decisions, decisions.

I looked up the kindle fire pros and cons, and I like it. It's not really trying to compete with the Ipad or other android tablets.. It's doing it's own thing and seems to be focusing on a family type group.

Even though it's set to improve by mid 2012, at the 199.00 price, it's a good buy and Amazon has a lot of books, videos and movies to purchase and use. There is a limit, however, as to how many movies you can store at one time, as of now,

If I didn't already have the Kindle 3, I'd consider the Fire.

I am SOOOOOO jealous!!!!!!!

Unless I manage to convince my dad to buy it for me, I cant get the Fire for awhile. If I can sell my Kindle 2 and my Kobo reader for some decent money, I might be able to afford the Fire. But, I kind of like my little family of ereaders...I'd be sad to get rid of them, even tho I cant use them all at once.

Maybe I'm a hoarder of ereaders?

I almost panicked today. I was out with my parents, and was waiting for my dad. I was reading my Kindle 3 (which Amazon has renamed and they're now known as the "Kindle Keyboard") and it froze up...wouldnt do a thing. I rebooted and it wouldnt turn back on.

I was talking to Kindle CS and just when they got on the phone with me, the Kindle rebooted and started working again. (darn! I might have convinced my dad to get me the Fire if my K3 died...) Crisis averted!

Really, I think I'm going to be saving loose change and anytime I get change smaller than a $5, it'll be going in my change jar to be eventually turned into the Kindle Fire. I think that'll be kind of fun to do.

My daughter is buying me a Kindle for my birthday but I've elected not to get the "Fire", even though at less than $200, it's really cheap to buy. There's been quite a bit of negative literature about it already so I chose to go with something tried and true. Sorry but I can't share your enthusiasm Erin.

Here's one of the articles I read about "Fire"

Sheesh, Anne, thanks. I never even thought of the security risk. Of course, even browsing on my old laptop is a security risk, I guess.

I'm sure browsing on my new Android phone is a problem too. They've probably already noticed that I looked up some risque fan fiction sites on the internet before I even left the store with it.

Since I cant afford the Fire yet, I'm probably not going to be in the first group of people who buy it like I was when the Kindle 3 came out last year. I have to wait till I can afford it, and I'm kind of liking the idea of waiting, because I'll need a cover for it, and after the bad experience I had last year with the Amazon made cover they sold me (the connectors that held the cover on the Kindle fried my Kindle) I'm waiting for a 3rd party company to develop some covers. The third party covers are usually nicer anyways.

Unless my dad wins the lottery before Xmas, I probably wont be getting the Fire till after New Years or later next spring. Hopefully that's enough time to get the beta testers (the people first in line for the Fire) to work out all the kinks.

All of the sites I go to now on my current K3, my iPad and my home computers are probably being logged by someone somewhere. So, I'm not going to be surprised if Amazon is logging everything. Heck, Amazon is constantly already sending me suggestions for thing they think I want to buy based on books and other things I've looked at on their site. I wish it would stop suggesting some of the things it does, because it's usually junk that I was looking up for my dad, or a link I followed from somewhere that took me to a product page on Amazon that I didnt want to go to.
