Default Snow tires

I just called and made an appointment to have my snow tires put on next week. Can't get used to making an "appointment"! My mechanic is only about a half mile up the road. I used to bring my car in the morning, walk back down the hill to work, then walk up to get my car after work.

It was a win-win for both of us. He had all day to work it in whenever he wanted to. Can't do that any more. Now I sit in the "waiting room" and chat with whoever wanders in, or play with their cat. Oh well.

We haven't had any snow yet (a few flakes on Mt. Mansfield) and none in the immediate future, but I don't like to wait until snow comes and everybody's lined up at the garage to get their tires changed. We don't put that many miles on the car, so having them on a couple weeks early doesn't matter the way it does to those who commute to work every day. One of the bennies of being Ma and Pa Kettle.

I remember my dad having to put snow tires on our cars. We just use all purpose, year round tires around here. I did not even realize they still made snow tires
