The only trick-or-treaters we've had so far were my nieces when they visited on saturday afternoon, and our cleaning ladies that visited this morning to clean up the house. (I was dumping the bags of Twix's into the bowl when they were leaving and offered them some. One of the cleaning ladies was wearing kitty kat ears)

I've had maybe one piece of candy today.

Went to the grocery store this afternoon to buy some more pop and picked up some more Halloween candy just in case we ran out before the trick-or-treaters showed up. (we didnt get any last year, or the year before)

I'm not sure which I like better...getting no kids begging for candy, or getting the hordes of kids that we'd get in our old neighborhood. Since we moved to this house 9yrs ago, I think we've had maybe 8 trick-or-treaters total...since we moved in. I dont know what the deal is with this neighborhood. We're in the largest subdivision in Omaha...why no one comes onto our block I'll never know.

I used to get dressed up every year. (I only quit going out for my own candy when I was 24....I'm 42 now...yes...I am a chocoholic. Why do you ask?) I quit dressing up to hand out candy the year my dog died. (just before I got diagnosed with MS) My heart isnt really into the decorating and stuff any more.

We don't get trick or treaters on our street so we send our DD to other people's neighborhoods to get her candy. Then when she comes home we go through her candy and take some. This year she has braces which means more candy for us!!!

Since moving here I do miss the trick or treaters. I love to see those little ones all dressed up in their costumes.

I was beginning to think I would have to eat that huge Tupperware bowl of candy all by myself! I use the gig big bowl, the largest they make. But about 7 PM they started coming. We had about 25. We had this one girl come up, we could hear a car door close. She said that the other kids in the car didn't want to come to the door and that there were 5 and a baby in the car. Hint, hint? So my husband gave her four pieces. Not long after we heard a car door close and another girl came up. This repeated itself two more times!!!!! My DH is a sucker for these kids and he went right along with it. I told him to not even open the door. He kept the light on until 9 PM. My time to turn the light off is 8. But we still have a lot of candy. Every year he tells me that we had over 100 the year before and we get 8 bags. I have to figure out a way of making him remember we only 25.

We didnt get a single kid at our house tonight.

I still have two and a half bags left out of the four bags of candy that we bought.

The leftovers, if I can get them downstairs and into the freezer before my parents inhale them will be stored for our Emergency Chocolate stash. (Emergency Chocolate is the stash we have on hand during winter/summer/spring/all the time if there's a storm/hot weather/a stressful day)

Probably going to go to the store tomorrow and see if there's any good sales on Halloween candy. I'm cool with putting Reeses pumpkins in Christmas stockings.

I remember going out right after school and then from 6-8, had to give the workers a chance to get home. I went out until I was a senior in h.s. I only had 2 trick-or-treaters. Had good candy too. Snickers, baby ruth, heath, reese cups, butter fingers, hershey bars, mars,3 musketeers & almond joy. But they won't go waste. I didn't break the bank. I think they were 3 bags for $5 or $1.88 a bag. I'll use them in gift bags for x-mas and eat them while reading or watching tv. I have an insatiable sweet tooth. I guess that's why my dentist bill is so high.

When in school used to hit the stores day after halloween to get candy to sell for christmas money. Good luck! I think people who own mom & pop shops buy the candy to sell in their stores now.

I had about 60 kids. I turned the lights off at 7:45 as I was tired of getting up to answer the door.

The weekend before is a big parade on the local business block and the merchants hand out candy then. We get to sit out at the local cafe sipping tea and watch the youngsters.
Then on the 31st the kids come in droves and the neighborhood has an informal friendly Halloween decoration competition, complete with dry ice and flying witches. Our area is ideal for this type of fun.
