Default 13 Things I Like

Thirteen out of a gabillion:

1. THICK TOWELS. I don't care if they take up more room in the dryer or not.

2. Anything POLAR FLEECE

3. CONTAINERS. Shoe boxes, rubbermaid tubs, plastic crates, wooden boxes, canvas totes, file cabinets, Tupperware...anything you can put something in.

4. BLUEGRASS MUSIC. I like the way it feels even if I'm not really listening.

5. BASEBALL. Less than three months until spring training, thank God.

6. CHICKADEES. I've got birds on my life list that were more "exciting", but nothing is better than a chickadee.

7. BUILDING MATERIALS. When I see the trucks go by loaded with 2X4's, strapping, plywood, even sheet rock...I want some. I like touching wood, especially unfinished wood.

8. LINDOR DARK TRUFFLES. The kind in the black bag.

9. CLOUDS. A clear blue sky is pleasant, but not nearly as interesting as thunderheads, purple sunsets, peach and aqua sunrises.

10. CATS. I like dogs, too, and parakeets and guinea pigs and donkeys...but I just can't imagine not having a cat.

11. FLOOR PLANS. Ever since I was a kid. I even have some books of floor plans. Shhh, don't tell anybody.

12. WORDS. I like playing word games, really good writing, foreign languages, coming up with just the right one sometimes. I like learning new words.

13. OLD BOOKS. I like the way they smell, and I like thinking my grandfather touched the pages.

Oooohhhh!!! We could almost be sisters, Blessings!!!

Yeah, the floor plans -- I can look at the two dimensional blue lines and visualize walking thru the finished product. At one time I thought I wanted to become an architect, or at least a drawer of blueprints. I even took a CAD class.

Building materials -- can't tell you how many times I was awakened in my youth to the piercing whir of Dad's table saw. I cherish all the beautiful creations his hands made and think of him every time I smell sawdust.

I've always been an observer/appreciator of clouds and beautiful sunsets.

Oooooh, containers! I love to be able to hit on the perfect container for something that I just can't think where to store! I get such satisfaction for some reason. You know the saying, "a place for everything and everything in it's place". I have yet to accomplish that, but its a goal, lol!

You included choccy (I prefer milk-choccy), but left off handmade quilts. I love to admire the handiwork of a quilt and have often said that's what I'm going to do in my old age -- create quilts! Now, if only I had a sewing machine (sold mine at a yard sale and have regretted it ever since.)

Sorry, but I don't share your enthusiasm for baseball. Ever since Dale Murphy quit playing for the Atlanta Braves.

I'll substitute Travel for baseball, I guess. But my DH loves baseball and takes the grandkids to the minor league Salt Lake Bees occasionally.

I love to watch the busy little birds in my yard (lots of trees). I guess we don't have chickadees in Utah, tho.

I love kitties and anything soft (including thick towels, fleece, etc.)

Words and word games. Correcting other people's spelling, lol!

I listen to bluegrass music occasionally, but love many types of music (I'm sure you do also). Even opera. Listening to Placido Domingo always makes the skin just above my knees tingle! I go around the house and even walk the halls at work whistling a tune.

Old books -- I don't profess an affinity for them in general, but just left church where a lady and I discussed how we cherished books our mothers (and others) had written in the margins.

I won't add to your list at this time, but am looking forward to what others will post.

Thanks for posting, "Sis"!

OK, I think I have it now. 30 minutes from now it may be different but I have been thinking! In no particular order:

1.Smell of a baby right after you bathe them
2.Watching a sunrise/sunset
3.Seeing my yard after it has snowed and there are no foot
prints in it yet, except maybe small animal prints
4.Although it is dangerous, it almost looks like art to see
ice hanging on the bushes or trees
5.Children's laughter
6 My cat sitting in the window watching a bird
7.Listening and watching a children's choir. Seeing their
emotions when they sing and perform is priceless
8.The smell of freshly mowed grass
9.Driving in my neighborhood and smelling the smoke
fireplaces. You can just imagine the physical and
emotional warmth it is given
10.The smell of newly cut wood
11.Remembering what my clothes smelled like when
I was a kid when Mom had just taken them off
the clothes line
12.Remembering my Mom and Dad hug and kiss each
other, which was frequent. It always showed me
how stable our home was even though we didn't
have much
13.The smell of coffee. I hate the taste of it but just
the smell of it takes me back to when I was a child
Dad was a preacher so had no regular'office'
hours. mom and Dad were always in the kitchen fixing
breakfast together.

Can I put a free one in here? The feel of my newborn babies in my arms for the first time! And the feel of both of my grand daughters. And the look of my son in laws faces as they watched my daughters walk down the aisle to them. And the look on my husbands face as they held his arm.

Oops, I think that's more than 1 free one.

4)love the spring when you can smell the earth and my fishies in the pond start swimming around after sleeping all winter
5)love Hawaii...enough said
6)Love the north woods of Wisconsin...a respite from the stresses back home...
7)I love cooking!! It's a spiritual practice to create something and have my loved ones get joy from eating what I made

1. The feel of really great hugs from my sons

2. Cats, cats, and more cats

3. Coffee. Hot coffee, iced coffee, black coffee, coffe with real cream, coffee flavored chocolates and coffee ice cream

4. The smell of Copenhagen snuff, lol. Years ago my did used to chew the stuff. It smelled so good I just had to taste it...big mistake!

5. The sound of babies laughing.

6. Starbucks gingerbread latte

7. Florida sky. It's like any other sky I've seen. I can spot the real thing on tv. Some shows are set in FL but I can tell just by the outdoor light if it's really filmed in Florida.

8. I also like floor plans! I thought I was a weirdo but I guess not

9. A new notebook or journal with a great new pen.

10. I also love to correct other people's spelling, lol. Especially soon to be ex husband's, .

11. Homemade vanilla bean scones

12. My best friend, she can ALWAYS make me laugh no matter how miserable I might be

13. This board because we truly are like family
