Default Bought a new car today

My husband has been really bugging me about getting a Ford Escape. In his hey day he would want to trade in about every 2-3 years. Now it's about every 5-6. Our car we traded in is a 2004 so he has done well. But I have really enjoyed being debt free! We paid off our second car last month. So i gave him an early Christmas present last night and gave him permission. We didn't uy the expensive version with all the trimmings, just the basics, It still is a sticker shock to us to have to spend over $20,000 on a car. We paid less than that for our first house. But he is happy. Now I am wondering what he will surprise me with! If he gave me anything that would be a surprise.

We had to get a new car recently and we went the other way. We bought a 2004 Honda Pilot to get it into our budget. The sticker price on brand new cars is just so out of line that I can't wrap my cheap brain around it!

The latest version of the Escape is one of the very few "American" made cars I would put near the top of my list. I've had two cars in 24 years! In 1987, I bought an '87 Subaru wagon, drove it for 12 years. In 1999, I bought a Subaru Forester, which I'm still driving.

Bought the current Subaru without ever having driven it. I've never been sorry. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Of course, I would also buy a Rav4, a Honda CRV (I think that's what I mean) or a Ford Escape. I'd have to test drive those three, though, to see if they fit.

When I bought this car, I handed over the money and said to my husband, "I just paid $20,000 for something I can't live in or graduate from!"

Congrat's on the new car!. BRAVO on the new Blue Oval. I have been a life-long lover of Fords and my wife wants an escape so bad she can taste it. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I named it Felix and got it on July 1st of 2010, as of today it has 10,200 miles on it. I don't drive much, in fact I hate putting miles on it. but love driving it.

Last month my daughter was in the back seat and asked if I knew I had a large tear in it, ** Earl flips out here** WHAT!!!!!! I pulled over and was screaming. It wasn't a tear exactly but the seam on the set from front to back had come apart at the stitches. I called Ford and asked if that was covered under my warranty. My service advisor said to bring it in and he would take pictures and send it to Ford for a decision. I did the next day, he called me 2 hours later and said they would need my car the next day for 4 - 5 hours and were paying for it. YEAH!!!! want to step to the plate Ford. (my dad had a seam in his Chevy Suburban less than a year of owning it and GM said NADDA to fix it). Not only did they fix the seam but they used EXTRA heavy duty strength to replace ALL the seams in my back seat. I'm happy.

Congrat's on the new Escape, post a pic if you can. Wise Choice. You mentioned it is not loaded, but does it have SYNC? That's my favorite feature on Felix, I can make and receive phone calls and dictate text messages hands free.

I haven't had an american car in years but the Ford lineup is pushing me towards a fusion or Edge. BTW, yours is nice.

The car does not have Sync. Of course my DH and I share one Tracfone! We use about 150 minutes a year!!!!! While we were sitting in the lobby during one of the many times that you have to wait we got in a Fusion. It is a beautiful car in side and out. But for my 6 foot husband it was terrible getting in and out.

Doydie - I have an older Escape that I bought years ago. I love it! It has been a good car for me. I know you will really enjoy yours. Congratulations!

We are lexus peeps. We have the hybrid Lexus suv which gets about 27 mpg in the summer & less in the winter ( the heater runs). We have an older ski boat we have to tow...
DH was looking for a used Lexus hard top convertible for months & we found one a couple of weeks ago for a bargain.
Got to admit cars are my weakness. I would have made a great rich girl ;-)
