Default ? to anyone with an Ipad

I always go a gag gift to my brother. It has been anything like emptying my shredder into a box to some pieces a styrofoam cut in the shape of cars. I want to give him an 'I pad" this year. I am going to take a pad of paper and put the letter I on the front of it. What I need is the approximate size of the I pad box to put it in. I have another brother who I haven't always given him a gag gift just because he doesn't have the same sense of humor that the other one has. I have thought of making a U pad for him. If you put them together it makes an IU pad. I'm from Indiana and of course IU is big here.

A package of typing paper is close to the size of an iPad box. (just wrapped my sister's iPad up, and I checked the box mine came in just now. iPad box might be a teeny bit bigger. I dont have a full pack of typing paper with me to make totally sure but it's close.

I was half tempted to take my iPad box and put my dad's giant calculator inside it (it'll fit, I checked) and give that to my sister and see what happens before we give her the actual iPad, but she's got no sense of humor, and I have no energy with this stupid flare to actually go thru with it. So I changed my mind on that.

A "regular" size cereal box may be close to what you need. At least judging from the boxes I saw at Target when I was looking at them.

That's a clever idea for a gag gift!

yeah, but a ream of paper might give it the necessary weight to make a person think it's an actual ipad. Cereal might crinkle...

I just looked, a piece of printer paper runs over the sides of an iPad box a little bit. If you put a piece of printer paper even with the corners on one side of the box, it'll run over the end and the other side by...half an inch, maybe an inch (I'm horrible at figuring out how much an inch is without a ruler)

What a fun idea Doydie.

When my daughter was small, I used to wrap small gifts like her watch in about 20 or 30 layers of wrapping paper, so that the package started extra large ... decreasing in size with every layer unwrapped. Either that or I put the gift in different sized, individually wrapped boxes, each one inside another using as many different sizes as I could find. She got wise after the first couple times, but knew she still had to unwrap every box or layer before she would get to see what her gift was.

Instead of the letter "I", what about drawing, or pasting a cut-out of a large eye on the front of your pad. You'd have an "Eye Pad" that way.

How about putting a fake eyeball in the box with a sanitary napkin? (because of all the jokes people made about the 'iPad' name when they were first announced)

Or a sanitary napkin with an eyeball (or the letter "I") drawn on it?

ok, I havent gotten enough sleep this past week. My brain is coming up with silly ideas.

Thanks guys. If this weren't going to be a family Christmas and we are all basically Southern Baptists and this is the first year we have Christmas since Mom dies I would go with the sanitary napkin. Although I think it is hilarious and some others would to some of the family would be horrified and insulted. So I am sticking with the pad of paper. But the eye ball is kind of cute! I just gave my daughters best friend the idea for her Mom and she used the sanitary pad with the I and she thought it was hilarious. So one brother might get a letter I and the other get an eyeball.

I have this shadow box in my bathroom and in addition to other things in it, I have have children's blocks that spell bath. I never know what other word I am going to find after anyone goes in there. So last year I gave both my brothers 6 blocks. My zany brother has told me some of the funny things he makes out of it but the other one hasn't. It's crazy the difference two brothers can be although they had the same parents and are only 14 months apart.

You'll have to tell us how your friend's joke goes.

I'd almost like to try it on my own sister, since she's getting an actual iPad, but she has no sense of humor. I have a halloween necklace that has eyeball pendants on it, little glow in the dark plastic ones about the size of marble shooters. I thought I could take an eyeball and a pad, and give everyone eye-pads for Xmas, but this family is just no fun.

It's the kind of practical joke my dad and his brother would have come up with if my uncle were still around. My dad doesnt do practical jokes as much as he used to.
