Default Just made a disappointing discovery

It's really hard to stomp off in a huff when your right leg doesnt work right anymore. And then by the time you get to the room you were stomping off to, several minutes have gone by because you had to take the stair lift to get to the basement, and slamming your bedroom door just doesnt have the same effect it would have had if you could have just stomped there instead of stumbling because of all the time that's passed.

dangit!

I need a new way of leaving a room gracefully (or at least without nearly falling) when I'm peeved at someone.

Maybe you could v-e-r-y slowly stand up very straight, fix the person with a steely gaze, and slowly, wordlessly turn and leave with great dignity.

I'm sorry Erin, but, this made me laugh. I pictured myself doing the same thing but, in my mind, I didn't get near as far as you did. I saw myself laughing at myself as I tried to stomp off. I saw myself stumbling and trying to catch my balance and then laughing at how ridiculous I must look.

But, you are right. Slamming a door after several minutes just doesn't have the same effect.

I meant it to be funny, because it'd be kind of sad that I'd still be ticked after all that time to get downstairs and away from the person who was annoying me and be slamming the doors. They'd have forgotten that I'd stomped off because it took so long to get downstairs.

You got to work on your look of death (I perfected mine when I taught) so no stomping required.

the person I was mad at used to be a teacher. So I think the look of death doesnt work on her.

Thanks for the heads up. I now have a plan in place to throw dishes when my stomping/slamming skills dwindle.

Good look of death works on anyone. DH (an ex-teacher) responds. Or maybe it's just me.

Throwing dishes!!! Great idea!!! (Correlle dishes dont break when they hit drywall do they?)

I just found out my mom doesnt give a flying crap about me. She just threw a big huge hissy fit because I havent driven her anywhere. (she doesnt drive, we wont let her drive, and if she did drive, I sure as hell wouldnt be anywhere near the car, oh and it wouldnt be in MY CAR!)

Ohmygod, she really went off...throwing things (see, it is a good idea. But, she better not have damaged my Xmas tree while throwing things around) and saying that she wants to get rid of my car (that's PAID FOR!) because I havent taken her anywhere and because she cant drive.

The steroids in me finally did something. Not anything that useful, but they helped when I yelled back at her narcissistic butt.

Something like "Mom, I'm soooooo sorry I cant <swear word> entertain you, because I'm <more swear words> with a <swear word> MS flare!! It's not my <swear word> fault that I cant just go leap into the <swear word> car and take you back to the store to get the toothpaste you forgot to buy the last < yet another swear word> 3 times you were there!!"....

Or something like that....

I was downstairs already, so the stomping off in a huff went really well. All I had to do was limp to my bedroom door, go in, and then SLAM it REALLY HARD! (hope I didnt damage the striker plate on the door). It was really satisfying. She couldnt see me stomp off, but I'm sure I set off the local Richter scale monitors when I slammed the door.

I dont think I'm sorry about yelling and using so many swear words when I went off on her just now. I'm tired of being in competition with her for who has the most health problems. (she's a true hypochondriac)

I am a little sorry that I left my dad (with the heart condition) up there, but she was already yelling at him.

If I could move out right now, I think I would seriously consider it.

My only bright spot to the day. An online friend just sent me two skeins of the softest yarn that I have been wanting to try for years as a Christmas present! It's made out of American Bison roving. It's so soft and cuddly. I think I'm going to name the skeins and hope they reproduce. Getting that yarn MADE MY DAY! So excited about that! Just need to decide what to make with it.

Kind of bummed right now that my fingers and hands are going numb. (cue ominous music. I may have to panic...again! It wasnt doing that before!)

I'm going to go pet my skeins of yarn now. Maybe that will calm me down better than taking half a valium would.
