Default I love Vermont! However...

It was 42 degrees when I got up this morning at 5:30. It's 18 now. We have bare roads right here, but parts of other roads are shut down due to icy conditions, "flash freezing", and have heard on the scanner two ambulance calls for older persons who have fallen outdoors.

We have a wind chill advisory for tonight. Temperatures around zero or below with the wind equals a "feels like" of -25. The wind is already whipping. But no alligators!!!

Default good grief

Hi Blessings, gosh that is cold. I don't miss that part about living up north. I moved to fla. I miss the fall colors but not the snow and ice. Try and stay warm, sit by that fireplace....ginnie

We need some sub zero weather to kill the bugs and larvae or we will have an infested spring, so I look forward to some cold and ice, but will not venture out.

SWOhio has had Spring like weather for most of the winter, so far. It's stupid and I don't like it.

<Laughing> Same up here, Sal. The cat is confused, too!

It was 50 this noon, 34 now at almost 6PM and going down to 20 tonight.

You can't take an MS'er and drop her 30 degrees in one day!

So do things shut down or are people so used to it that business goes on as usual? I always think about trying to get to work in horrible conditions.

Fortunately in my area there are only a few months of cold (20-40s) and usually knock wood only a couple of real snow storms. Since I have to get to work I'm dependent on my all wheel drive Subaru but can't imagine having to slip and slide to work all winter long.

Here in GA even the mere mention of the "S" word (snow) can cause people to stock up on food like we're going to be trapped inside for months!

As long as I have a decent supply of cat food I'm fine. I don't get worried if I'm low on people food......but let me get low on cat food and I get all kinds of anxious!

Jules, I am in Boston. Things do not shut down for cold. And this is just mild- an odd beginning to Winter. People bundle up and walk to the bus or the T.

I do so like "seeing" the snow when it comes but I can wait.
