So very, very sad. Such a beautifful women blessed with the voice of an angel. Such a waste. I got so many text messages from friends last night talking about it. My heart goes out to her family.

I agree that it is very sad... I liked her alot. Some of her music still gives me goosebumps... "I Will Always Love You" especially.

I was up in the night for medical reasons, and saw this, and
ended up on YouTube:

I apologize for the introductory short advertisement.

This song is especially nice, but bittersweet, since she failed herself to follow its lyrics literally.

"I Will Always Love You" was written by Dolly Parton in 1973 and released with her singing it in 1974. I remember it well and I loved it then.

Whitney Houston sang it in 1992.

Whitney Houston's daughter was taken to the hospital today...from the same hotel that Whitney died in.

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...d-to-hospital/

I hope she wasnt taken to the hospital for the same reasons that her mother died from (drugs maybe?) Hope she'll be ok.

edited to add:

they finally updated the story. She was taken to the hospital after breaking down over her mother's death. Completely understandable. Hope the paparazzi leave her alone.

I feel really sorry for Bobbie...the daughter.

I only saw a brief part of one episode of the reality show she did a while back ... about her family. It was totally painful to watch.

Coming from a turbulent, unpleasant childhood myself, I have to
really wonder if this daughter can overcome, the drug use example and this sad death.

I saw one report of a photo of the young girl snorting cocaine ...don't know if that is true. But since addiction is thought to be biologically driven today, and possibly inherited...I am concerned for the daughter. Grandma is in NJ... I saw a live report that the church in NJ was having a special service early this morning. Grandma has been in charge of the choir there for 54 yrs as reported on CNN! I do hope the family comes to the aid of Whitney's daughter. I truly hope someone can help her before she takes this damaging path.

BTW ...it is totally possible Whitney fell in the bathroom, hit her head and died that way. It is a common accident for anyone impaired for any reason! So I reserve judgement until more facts come in.

Whitney Houston's voice is what made the song famous. She had the voice of an angel. Dolly can write songs but Whitney had one of the greatest voices of our century. Just saying.

Also,

If you don't have something good to say about a person maybe you shouldn't say anything at all. Especially right after they pass.

I will never forget her Star Bangle Banner, in 1991/2. The most beautiful rendition that I ever heard. I even bought the tape..

Thank you Whitney..

Sally,

She sang that acapello (sp) at the superbowl. She walked out on the field wearing sweats and sang with no accompaniment and it made history. She really was one of the greatest singing talents of the past few decades. What a loss. They paid tribute to her tonight at the Grammy awards several times.

What a sad story all around; my heart weeps for her family.

I've told my kids that unless there is some seriously compelling reason not to, I want my cause of death announced publicly and immediately. I don't want "suddenly" or "following a long/short illness" in my obituary. I don't want people speculating: "She probably had a heart attack because she was so fat", or "I heard she had MS, she probably died of that", or whatever!

And people can't help it. I hate it, but I do it too.

She set the bar for that song and, IMHO, nobody will ever be able to match it. I get goose bumps every time I hear it. What a wonderful singer she was. She could sing the alphabet and make it special.
