My doctor knows that my immune system isn't so good. He did recommend I get the shot for that reason, to boost my immune response. I was under the impression it is opposite of what you said. If you have a lousy immune system give it a boost. Maybe this needs to be researched. I just went by what my doctor thought, and I trusted him that he would know. ginnie

So what does a wife with MS do when her husband has the shingles. We haven't slept together for several years. He snores to much for me! We don't use the same towels or wash cloths.

My dr. was under the same impression, so I got the shot a year ago.
It cost $250 which I had to pay up first then send proof to my ins. co. they then reinbursed me. I had a SIL who got it from head to toe. My DF had it all over his chest and back. I did have the chicken pox when I was about
8yrs, old.

Obviously you should go by what your doctor says. He knows your medical history. I will not get it. There are good medications out there if you catch it in time. I know this from what happened to my cousin and from some research. She says that she would not get the vaccine either if she contracted shingles again. She was given the medication and that is what she would do again if she ever had another bout with shingles.

My DH shingles are drying up, not all there yet but getting there. He does take an occasional Tylenol for the pain. For him that is like taking the toughest pain pill. He takes one Aleve a day for arthritis. So I am proud of him.

I have also enjoyed the fact that when there are errands to be done that I can do them by myself! I have missed that since he retired.
