Default Do cats talk in their sleep?

I have a little pad and blanket here in my office by my computer. It's one of Melodies favorite places to sleep. But she is so vocal. Sometimes she sounds like she is growling at something at other times it's just noises. Adora never did that. Melody sleeps on my bed at night but between the sound machine and my C Pap I never hear anything.

my dog used to growl in his sleep. He also snored.

Sometimes, I could look at him and tell he was dreaming because he'd be growling or doing a low bark noise, and his feet would be moving like he was walking or running. It was cute. (miss that dog)

Doydie, my cats make noises when they sleep. Gracie snores......I mean rattle the windows type snore. The other two make noises but nothing like Gracie. I can tell when they're dreaming. They twitch and moan and their tails move around.

One of our cats, Cindy, scares the bejeebers out of me every couple-few days. She makes kind of a howling noise, like she's in pain or going to barf. Not just a little squeak, but a loud wail. I ALWAYS run to see what's wrong. Sometimes she's right back to sleep (or still asleep?) and other times she squints at me through those half-asleep eyes as if to say, "What's YOUR problem?"

Even though she's been doing it for years, we still get sucked into wondering, "Is something wrong with her??"

My 2 cats keep their thoughts to themselves when sleeping. Their waking hours are a different story.

The dog, now, she lets it all hang out in her slumber. Barking, growling, tail wagging...she's an open book. Typical Lab.

I've heard Tigger do that chatter sound. I always associated it with her seeing birds. Now that you mention it, it is her seeing birds through a window.

Dweezle would make noises like maybe he was dreaming. None of our other past cats did.

But then again, Dweezle was the only cat that thought sleeping on my bare foot while I was sitting on the couch watching TV was cat heaven. The other ones were content crashing somewhere else.

Wink

I had Weezie in the only A/C room (bedroom) the other day.
She normally kicks and squeaks sometimes in her sleep.

We were taking a 100 degree escape nap together in there,
and she screeched and jumped up sitting looking around!
First time for that one. The noise from the A/C portable machine must have made her a light sleeper? I wasn't sleeping, but just vegging there.

She often sleeps next to my monitor on the desk here, and I can see her twitch, and squeek sometimes. Lots of breathing rate changes too. It seems more pronounced when she is stretched out on her side. She rarely curls up in here with me.
