Thanks to our neighbor to the north!!

I get kind of teary-eyed every year on this day...the words of the Declaration of Independence are one of the most dynamic in human history. The philosophy of breaking free from an oppressive ruler, and the logical way the arguments were made, are still fascinating reading to me. Brings together all of the great thinkers into one document.

And then I think of the great risk they ran in signing this paper-granted the majority of the men who signed this were affluent, but still they could have been executed as traitors-which, when you think about it, that's exactly what they were-thumbing their nose at their ruler.
