Default A rather strange grim reaper.....Donna the hippo

Our local zoo had the oldest hippo in captivity. She was 61 and had been with us most of that life. 61 is very rare for a hippo. She had arthritis and recently got renal failure and was very sick. She was euthenized yesterday.

Norwegian media outlets reported that Donna suffered from a "toxin disease", but I was unable to find any info on her ailments, other than arthritis and renal failure.

Would you happen to have any idea what they're referring to?

Death due to her debilitating severe arthritis. This is what I found.

It's very interesting that her death was reported world wide. And I don't think Evansville is a small town. I wold assume toxin disease would refer to kidney disease since the kidneys can no longer filter the toxins. The zoo made special birthday cakes for her, had parties, made special fruit very huge popsickles. She was special
