Heart My Best Friend...........

Okay, I just posted my latest MS complaints in the regular forum and decided to move over here for this one since it doesn't directly concern the disease. A little history first....after my divorce in 1990, along with the MS dx....I met a "friend" in '95. There's quite an age difference between us but we enjoyed many of the same things, especially since my ms kept me from "extreme" activities. He lived about 1-1/2 hours away from me, but he called every single day and we'd talk for hours. We enjoyed many dinners out together, travelled to Niagara Falls, Maryland to visit his son and DIL, day trips to Atlantic City to lose some quarters, saw many productions put on locally by the Broadway Theater League, etc. You get the picture ... really good friends.

About five years ago, when I was starting to use the powerchair, his son convinced him to move to Maryland to be nearer to he and his wife. Fred still called everyday, but I didn't see him again in person. A week ago Tuesday, Fred had a stroke. The doctor considered it "mild", but it has affected the left side and his short-term memory. His DIL found him on the floor in his living room approximately two to four hours after it happened. Thank heaven it wasn't longer, or he probably wouldn't be alive.

He's awake and out of intensive care, but doesn't remember much. First thing he asked was "Where's Robert?" That was his son who committed suicide a couple years before I met Fred......his wife died the same year. I don't think he remembers me now, but they're sending him to rehab so who knows. At 87 everything becomes more questionable.

Anyway, I wanted to share with my friends here and ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for my dear friend Frederick George. Always called him "Superman" since he could out-do me and was 19 years older. Thank you for listening again.
