Default Black Friday

So who's going to brave the crowds and venture out into this chaos?

Even pre-MS I didn't try to shop on this day. People are just too pushy and aggressive.

Now that there are online deals just as good and better I imagine more folks will try ordering their gifts online. I can't imagine doing it any other way.

It's been six years since I have set foot in a Mall or other retail store during the Christmas rush. I don't shop for much anyway and what I do get can easily be ordered online.

It's a little depressing watching people stress and fight over "stuff" and not even think about the reason for the season.

Thumbs down

No way no how will we go out and shop. Black Friday and earlier is just sickening and it's way too commercial these days. Not for us at all.

I don't leave my house unless it is an emergency.

I live in a populated area with stores...the traffic is a nightmare.

The city keeps roads narrow to keep speed down, but people unfamiliar with it are dangerous to be around. IMO even pedestrians are in danger here!

I buy alot online now. Save $$ and get deals that way.
We are thinking of getting the new Hamilton Beach one scoop
coffee maker for hubby. You use your own coffee and don't have to buy the premade cups which are expensive. He drinks coffee alot and uses the awful instant. So Amazon has the lowest price on it so far. We may get one, now or after Xmas. He is still thinking about it.

I can't tolerate coffee...so I do tea.

Yes, it's getting to be too overwhelming for me, too. I believe it would be whether I had MS or not.

I did some online shopping this morning for a few items....nothing that would have been any cheaper on Friday.....and I'm just about finished with my Christmas shopping! Needless to say my list of family that I have to buy for has gotten shorter and shorter.

My goal is not to see how much money I can spend or how many gifts I can accumulate but to get meaningful gifts that can actually be used by my family. Going for quality not quantity.

I'm going to start shopping on the home shopping channels and Amazon sometime this week. Not totally into doing a big christmas this year unless I get a really good idea for some presents. I only want one thing (I want an iPad Mini), and my dad said he doesnt need anything, and we have no idea what to get my mom. It may end up a boring and cheap christmas this year.

at least my mom is here to be boring with and cheap over. (she's in better shape now after her West Nile virus than my dad and I are)

Default Black Friday Joke

It was the day of the big sale. Rumors of the sale (and some advertising
in the local paper) were the main reason for the long line that formed
by 8:30, for the store's 12 AM opening time, in front of the store.

A small man pushed his way to the front of the line, only to be pushed
back, amid loud and colorful curses. On the man's second attempt, he
was punched square in the jaw, and knocked around a bit, and then
thrown to the end of the line again.

As he got up the second time, he said to the person atthe end of the line...

"That does it! If they hit me one more time, I won't open the door!"

Yep I'm one of those crazies that head out on Black Friday and enjoy it. Years ago we introduced our DD to Black Friday. Not good. She loves the thrill of getting up way before the sun and going. We make a game out of how many people are still wearing their pajamas and who looks like they literally just rolled out of bed. Now that she's older she is enjoying it more and more.

We always avoid electronics or items that are high in demand. Now that the stores are opening on Thanksgiving evening by the time we get there early the next morning no one is there. We get deals without the stress and hassle of the crowds. And if we don't get what we set out to get, oh well. Sometimes we find even better deals that we intended!

My DH will no longer go with us so we started a new traditiion two years ago. Me, my DD and my sister head out early on Black Friday mostly for clothing (which I won't order online). Then we have a relaxing breakfast/lunch.
