Default I officially joined the geriatric age today

On my diabetic diet I have eaten healthier than I have in a long long time. My bowel habit is usually about 3 times a day. Now I am lucky to have 3 a week! I feel I need to name each one of them they are so difficult to deliver!!!!!! So I bought some generic Colace tonight I'l start with one a day and see how that does. I drink tons of water, eat my fiber, stay away from fats as much as I can. I'm trying to be a good girl and it is punishing me in the bathroom. But the good side of it is I have had no accidents and thrown good underwear away.

Yeah I know. Gross subject

I use sugar free metamucil generic orange mix before bedtime every night. I put a heaping teaspoon in cold water and take my nighttime meds with it. It usually keeps me pretty regular.

If I get a bit constipated, I eat something with pickled jalapenos and that does the trick good, lol. They are low in calories but high in sodium and if you can eat hot foods, they are very effective and they'll clear your sinuses as well.

Well the Colace hasn't done it. I have a BM every 2-3 days instead of every 3-4 days. So today I am adding Benefiber

Just a heads up...It is not recommended to combine fiber supplements with medication or other supplements; as the fiber (especially psyllium husks like Metamucil) can prevent the absorption of the medication.

RE: irregularity...

A possible alternative to get things going is "Mag07". This actually improves the inner digestive environment and tones the bowel (Internet search for more info). It is available on-line and through some health food stores.
The bottle says to start with 4 or 5 capsules but I would suggest 2 or 3 to start with and then adjust according to need.

Mag07 is the only thing that works for me when things get too infrequent or even too frequent. I have regional enteritis, which makes the guts very sensitive to a lot of things; but this tends to settle things down rather than upset them. I have a friend who has Celiac Disease and she has found that it works to settle things down for her as well.

With love, Erika
