Default refund check!!!!!

Had no idea that I would get a refund check from the place I had my colonoscopy. They said I payed to much on my co-pay. The check was for $80. My recumbent bike I am getting used.....$80. Love it!

Another insurance issue will not have a good ending. As you all know, well here in the US, Dec 7th was our deadline to switch. Our family doctor was dropped by my husbands policy but he decided to stay with him anyway and just pay the nonprovider charge. But his cardiologist had not been dropped. So we find out today, Dec 11 that he has been dropped. Now we have to find another doctor.

I lost all my doctors except for my neuro. (the neuro is affiliated with everyone).

My big worry is that my neuro is in his 70s, and he might decide to just retire sometime soon. He told me awhile back that he's not planning on it anytime soon, but knowing what I know about a lot of people in the medical community. I will not be surprised if he retires.

My aunt is really tempted to retire soon because of all the work they're about to pile onto her. A lot of doctors she works with have told her that they'll be retiring, or looking into the possibility of becoming Concierge Care doctors.

It's not just insurance companies dropping doctors, it's a lot of doctors deciding to quit because they won't be able to make any money. My parents lost their regular doctor. She quit to go do infectious disease research, rather than work at a practice.

Unexpected refund checks are the best.

Well my DH finally called his doctor's office today. I would have eventually would have done it but I want him to become actively involved in his own care. The office said that the insurance company did approve one doctor in the practice so that the patients don't have to leave the practice, just switch doctors within the practice. But she suggested he call the insurance. So he did and they did further looking and his doctor is in it. So I guess everything is OK. So far I am not liking this $0 premium/month insurance. It's just not worth it. This provider book is just to thin. they dropped our PCP because 'the office was run ineffieciently in that he did simple surgeries in the office instead of referring them. He also did Cortisone injections himself.

I learned many years ago that even if your doctor isn't on the list for your insurance, it does not mean they are not in the network. When I ran a small business I was the insurance administrator for our health insurance and it is common that you will not see your preferred doctor listed. You should always investigate further to find out for sure.
