Walmart has such a silly 'reputation' about being the hick and trashy place to shop. I get so mad about it. I don't know how many videos there are on face book joking about an obese person riding a scooter at Walmart. I usually try to respond to each of them that they don't know the whole story and shouldn't make fun of people. My daughter was in Las Vegas several years ago and it was quite the thing to rent a scooter to get somewhere quicker. I don't like that either.

It's just another box store like K-Mart, Target, ****'s.
Probably because of the success of Wal-Mart and how big they are, people always have to pick on success.


Speaking of store scooters I saw a young man driving one today. He apparently broke both his feet as he was wearing double cast on them.
He didn't seem to be embarrassed on it.

My independence means to much for me for my image to get in the way. I would much rather be in a scooter than have to depend on family members who aren't getting any younger push this 200 pound woman around in a manual wheel chair. So when we go on trips I always rent one. Insurance bought me a manual one many years ago and it has been used a lot and not just by me. But my husband doesn't like to browse when we travel. You just quickly move from one area to another. When my Mom died she was so proud to leave me her scooter since we are both left handed but I do't like to use it, in fact I never have except up and down the street to keep the battery OK. I like the kind that has the basket on it and I can swivel the seat around. This is the four wheel kind that looks like a chair.

I never get to get a scooter when I go shopping. They are always taken. I suspect mostly by overweight people. I'm not saying they don't need a scooter but I don't see them with a cane or disabled parking. They don't seem to have any walking issues in the parking lot. Besides their shopping cart didn't have a fruit or vegetable in it. I don't even try shopping anymore. I guess if I want to go shopping, I'll have to get my own scooter.

We have so many obese people around here riding scooters up and down the street and at Wal-Mart. Yes like you say....not one fruit or veggie. It is kinda irritating to see, but walking for them is difficult as well, being so large. Some of them can't do anything about it, but a lot of them can if they start eating fruit and be active....getting things taken care of. It would be easier on their knees so they could walk free.

I'm in my 30's and already driving a scooter in stores to save my energy and keep my legs from getting too stiff. I am doing all I can to combat this, but I have no control over it...they could.

Even worse is to see a at child....I mean a child under 10 years old...makes me just......

I had to use scooters in all my shopping in December. I was really reluctant to have to use one. This is waht I learned. You can't reach products either from the top shelves on from the bottom shelves, You have a hard time getting close enough to the produce to pick out what you want. peole don't get out of your way when your on a scooter, and it is hard to get your groceries from the basket to the checkout counter.

Now I can use the regular cart again. But I always offer help to anyone I see on a scooter. I always ask if they need help getting an item. I don't question why someone is on the scooter, I just have a new respect for those who have to use one.

When I could use a cart as a stabilizer, it was a beast walking through the store but I did it. Now I can't stand that long. If I could reverse MS with a pill or diet, I would. I have a hard time understanding how health is not their number 1 priority. I have a brother with diabetes and instead of trying to control with diet and exercise he would rather take pills. My family has a history of diseases that are totally avoidable. Yet they refuse to modify their diet.

I don't eat McDonalds, or any grease whatsoever, no soda, nothing like that. Since having this scare I have turned my diet completely around. I'm also on the bike riding the trails as much as possible. Today I got in a nice ride, probably 18 miles, because it was way cooler today and not bad humid. Felt nice I tellya.

I did see an overweight young girl walking down the MUP(Multi Use Path) she was trying and it was nice to see her doing something about it. I also saw this extreme overweight dude stopped at the light in his car, while I waited to cross. I don't know how he is allowed to drive as his gut was literally touching the steering wheel and I mean tightly looking. I also saw he has a handicap parking permit(A red one)

I know some people have thyroid problems or stuff like that, but....I think a good deal of them just are too lazy to get going on doing something about it, continue to feed on burgers and collecting disability checks isn't a bad thing either

I bet I just opened a can of worms.

I'm probably not in a position to judge, as people do not see my disability and probably think I'm a lazy azz too. Sorry, but watching these disabled obese people walking out of McDonalds really irks me in the worst way. They're going to get a heart attack!
