I hear myself doing it, and I just can't stop myself! Aaargh!
If, for example, my daughter calls and says, "Are you in the middle of lunch?", can I just say "No, we already ate"? Nooooooo. I have to say, "No, we already ate, because Bob wanted to get the lawn mowed in case the propane guy shows up, because they usually deliver to the church every other Wednesday, which is because we aren't using as much heat at church now that it's May, but the basement is still chilly, of course, and the children just wear their sweaters, and they're so cute with their little sweaters on, remember the sweater Grammy Smith made you before she died? I think she died in 1992, because that was the same year....." I can just picture Archie tying the noose. Aaaargh.

Who cares what Archie, A MAN, thinks? Your daughter will love and treasure these memories. I wish now my Mom had told me more. My aunt (her sister) told me stuff I never knew before I lost her.
PS - Didn't everyone like Edith way more than Archie? How I cried when she died. I'm tearing up now and thinking of my Mom.

I loved Edith! If you need to be like someone, she's a good choice!

My Dad used to love to watch All In The Family. Sometimes he'd joke around with my Mom when he would get irritated with her and say "Stifle, Edith!". It sort of lightened the mood and made them smile (usually).

Hey, Dingbat! LOL...It's either Edith or Rose from Golden Girls. Both are delightful people to be like!

If you're Edith Bunker, than who am I? LOL I do the same thing to my DDs. They call it MS randomness but it's really not random as the topics flow one in to the next. I tell them that they don't get it because they are functioning on Normal Slowness. LOL

Speaking as a daughter who calls her mom often sometimes just to hear her voice -- I would love it if my mother would just go on and on. Once in a while she'll get chatty but it's not as often as I'd like.
I have no comments about Edith (never really watched the show much) - just wanted to say it's either something your DD probably likes or she'll remember and laugh about later. |

DDs and I talk all the time. DD19 came over a couple of days ago and spent 3 or 4 hours venting about life. I fully participated in the conversation with complete sentences and thoughts . . .and of course some MS randomness. LOL |

So I shared my observation with my daughter, and she said, "I don't get it. I sort of know who you're talking about, but I wasn't allowed to watch Archie Bunker, remember?"
And she would be correct. I think she was 7 when the show went off the air. She obviously doesn't notice any big change taking place, so apparently I've ALWAYS been Edith Bunker. Awesome.
