You guys are making me hungry to crochet and knit. I did both religiosly, in my
twenties. Too busy in my 30s n 40s. MS hit me big in my 50s.

I crocheted oval and round carpets, knitted sweaters for me n everyone, also
sewed/made some of my own clothes. I guess I thought I was going to be an
old maid in an old hut, with my sewing machine, knitting n crochet needles,
munching on peanut brittle.

Then, I met the man of my dreams and the rest was history.. I don't have a
great desire to start that up again but, y'all sure did bring back memories.

Thanks and keep it going. I hope others join you with their talents.

deleted. I'll come back to repost this later.

Edit

and I'm back. My photobucket page was not working earlier. It wasn't letting me link my pictures for some reason.

I knitted these dishcloths about a year ago. I finished them off the other day, and gave them to my aunt. She said she's afraid to use them because they look so nice. I told her to actually use them.

Some of them are garter stitch. There's a couple that are stockinette. I should make some more. I have a bit of cotton yarn left.

Erin that shawl is beautiful. I like it much better as a shawl than a chair covering. It all makes me want to get out all my counted cross stitch things again. Well no, I sold all those things. I would have to go buy supplies

I get requests for that shawl occasionally. I've probably made 30 of them, maybe more. I didn't take pictures of all of them. I have a couple in my gift box, for when I need a present to give away. My aunt loves that pattern.

Heck, I love that pattern. Pineapple designs are my favorite thing to crochet. They look hard, but are so easy. My grandma told me they were the easiest thing to crochet, and I didn't believe her. She was gone by the time I learned how to crochet pineapple designs. Wish I had tried earlier. She would have loved one of those shawls.

A couple of years ago, my sister bought me a bunch of vintage crochet patterns from some used bookstores. I was really really excited to find that one of the vintage pattern leaflets she bought me, was the original pattern for the chair back doily that I make the shawls out of now. I love that.

I've also used doily patterns to make afghans.

Like this. From a doily pattern that would probably be just big enough to put underneath a vase.

and just to show off, here's how much I love that shawl pattern.

That's two that I made, and put one on top of the other to show the difference in the two different thicknesses of yarn.

I've made more, I just haven't taken pictures of all of them. Now I want to make another one. I wonder what color to do this time.

Wow! All of those are so beautiful!

I love the idea of ready to go gifts too, if I can get any quicker at crocheting I might have to think about doing that, right now it's slow going on projects, thanks in part to the left hand issues, but I think more so on inexperience.

But still I'm so happy with the DH right now, he's taking me to Michaels or Joann's this weekend (though he'll probably send me with my mother) for a yarn shopping spree.

My mood seems to have improved from his standpoint since I picked up the crochet hook again that now he's ready to bury me in yarn lol.

I just wanted enough to keep me busy while he was gone for a week, he's telling me to just keep it under $100-150 or so... that's a ton of yarn!

Poor man would probably tell me to keep it under a grand if I was buying tea from China. But almost...almost considering tossing some fabric into that purchase.

I can't cut out patterns or use the machine to sew... But my mother has volunteered to cut and do the base sewing for an otherwise hand sewn cathedral window quilt. Just a couple of little squares at a time and will be good practice for the right hand to get some hand/eye coordination going on.

Of course if I make it up for the guest room, I could feasibly hand sew the whole thing, and using a rotary cutter could potentially cut it all out too. So many choices to keep me from feeling useless, while creating a BHG dream home

This is the last remnant of when I was able to sketch, cut and sew. Gained weight so most of my creations are down at the salvation after a depression fit, couldn't toss this shirt though... It still fit, is super comfy and actually one of my firsts to go completely from sketch pad to reality.

One day...one day for sure I'll be designing again, might be stealing a grand baby to cut under supervision, and sitting the step-daughter down to sew it up with instruction... But she was taught years ago... Or I'll just have to force the right hand to step up to the plate, it's had 34 years of rest, I think it's time for it to be a team player

I spent about $30 on yarn the other day. Ordered it from Joann's Crafts. Hoping it shows up today or tomorrow.

Hoping I can stay interested in the pattern I've been wanting to do. That's my problem. I get bored quick sometimes.

Boredom tends to be less of an issue for me, but zoning out and getting completely lost for where I am in the pattern is a frequent occurrence. Less so with the crochet since I still have to pay attention to what I'm doing, but with knitting...The slightest little distraction and my fingers just keep moving while the brain is away.

With knitting its also an issue when I have a mental image of what I want it to look like and trying to bring that about, it might all come down to a basic needle in front or needle in back knot, but sometimes reality seems to refuse to cooperate with fantasy even when it's just one little knot at a time.
