My nephew pulled through the surgery just fine. He is doing well. Now we hope he continues to do well and put on some more weight so he can go home. Thank you all for your prayers and support.:grouphug:

he's what i used to call a "peanut".
i remember that we encouraged our parents to hold their tiny (5#isn't all that tiny) babies skin to skin on their chests.

it's called kangaroo care. it's been shown that holding that way for an hr or 2 a day can help the baby gain weight. just a thought.

Updated . . . He had the surgery and did well but developed a UTI. He's doing well now and gaining weight. He had another swallow study done and is swallowing thinner liquids much easier. He is probably going home today. YEAH!!! He still has a tough road ahead of him with therapy and seeing specialists and more testing. And, they live so far from the hospital and specialists. But at least he will be with his family. He will be able to be in his own home. I know that sounds funny as he has never been to his home as he's been in the NICU since he was born. But, they can now all be together as a family (my niece, her DH, my 4-year old nephew, and this new little guy).

Keep the prayers coming that he is able to go home today and that he continues to improved and do well.

Look at that face, looking up to some one and he even looks like he has his hands folded as if to say I need you. Good luck

Kelly - As far as I know he is doing fine. I haven't heard from my sister since he went home.

I did get a message from his fundraising page this morning though. His brother made him a Ninja Turtle and it's bigger than he is. That was part of the message and there is a picture of the turtle next to the baby. It was cute.

He was 6 pounds when he left the hospital and is still tiny as you can tell in that picture. Which, I felt like he was praying in that pic with his face looking up and his hands folded like that. I can't want to finally meet the little guy, but know it will be quite a while. He still will need therapy, tests, and treatment as well as close monitoring but at least he got to go home.
