Hard to get my head around this one. Suicide. Battled alcoholism and depression for a long time.

Apparently he couldn't get his head around it either, Sparks.. He was BiPolar
and chose to medicate his depression with alcohol & drugs, rather than quell his comedic genius with the proper medication. Such a loss to the world. I think I hear God laughing. R I P now, Mr Williams.

I just read an article about the latest TV show he was on. The one that was cancelled after 1 season. When he was filming, he was Robin Williams at his best. But not filming he was in a dark place, always looked sad. He was depressed that he had to resort to a TV role to make money to pay his bills and that failed. I am glad that neither me or any family member is famous and under the microscope at all times

I talked to my husband about William's wife announcing that he had early Parkinsons. My husband has said many times if he has to end up like his Dad, in pain, wearing diapers and having to depend on others tha he would just want to kill himself. When I talk to him about it he says he really doesn't he just hopes that God takes him before anything like that happens. I know that when/if his Parkinson's affects his Karaoke that his quality of life will really b affected. He depends so much on other people complimenting him on his singing. If one karaoke bar starts getting more of the younger set who don't appreciate his 60s and 70s music he just stops going there. he knows that when we go down to Florida that there really ins't much for him there. He doesn't like the beach, sun or traveling. So he is going to make sure he finds somewhere to sing Karaoke. He is always looking for new fans.
He needs direction since he retired. All he does now is sing, play Wii, channel surf and take a daily walk.

I ride bikes from time to time with another guy who has MS that used to live in California. He told me a story years ago about doing a big group ride out there and having Robin Williams as the celebrity starter/lead-out. Robin apparently gave some good advice for group rides that I try to follow whenever I ride these days. Robin said something to the effect of "There are lots of really good looking folks out here wearing tight bike shorts...and it is really windy today. So my advice to everybody here for the ride today is find a nice *** and follow it!"

I read that he was never actually diagnosed bipolar. Parkinson's can cause debilitating depression also...
He had huge bills from 2 divorces and had complained of bills that were piling up. He was grateful he had his TV show. Friends said that he really went downhill after his show got cancelled. Those who can't stand the pain of living also feel that their loved ones would be better without them causing so much strife. We all know that isn't true, but when depression skews your perspective, it can do very bad things... I hope his spirit has found respite...he must have experienced a lot of pain to go in such a gruesome manner... Prayers for him and his loved ones...the world has lost a true genius...

I know somebody who has bounced back and forth over the years between a dx of bipolar and paranoid schizophrenia. One of the things they do to try to combat paranoid schizophrenia is to use medicines that lower the dopamine level in the brain. One of the things they do to treat parkinsons is to give medicines to increase the dopamine level in the brain. The person I know who has been treated for decades for bipolar/PS is now experiencing severe parkinsons type symptoms due to the long term depression of their dopamine levels. On the other end of the spectrum, when my mom was treated for her parkinsonism, they initial went with too large of a dopamine dose, and she pretty much went crazy. Started having all kinds of hallucinations and delusions.
It is a very complicated web when you start dealing with brain chemistries and mental health issues, and I am sure in patients with a history of drug use, it becomes even more complicated. |
