We chronically ill, since we can't go out in this heat, watch a lot
of TV. The summer used to be the worst TV season, but now I like the summer season better than the Fall season!!! I watched Steven Spielburgs new series encore of "Extant", last night and loved it and then we have his "Falling Skies", "Murder in the first", "Cold Justice", "The Last Ship" and many more....... What is your Favorite show this summer?

the one where I get better and stop watching tv and leave the house lol. but for real, I haven't bee able to focus on a weekly how for a long time. I started watching Undateable and that is kind of funny. I used to like those violent shows like oz and the shield. haven't found anything near as good since then. my girlfriend watches reality tv shows. I hate them lol. I liked American ninja warriors but no one ever wins so what's the point

I can't stand half the stuff that's on television now. I'm starting to get annoyed even with the stuff I've been watching for years. Because it's all the same. A lot of the shows have become advertisements instead of a drama. (I don't really do sitcoms, and the "reality" shows are not entertaining to me at all)
Started watching a lot of British dramas and comedies over the past two years. I watch a lot of PBS now, and I also have friends who have sent me stuff from England to watch. Starting to watch so many British television shows that sometimes the American accents of people on the American produced television shows starts to get grating to my ears. So glad that I can get a lot of my shows on Amazon Prime.

My favorite tv show of all time right now is Sherlock. The show runners for the current incarnation of Doctor Who are the ones that are producing Sherlock. They've got my two favorite actors in the entire world on that. (Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman. Cumberbatch played Smaug the dragon in the latest Hobbit movie, and Freeman played Bilbo Baggins, the Hobbit)
Cumberbatch plays Sherlock, Freeman is John Watson. They're a present day Sherlock and Watson. It's a really good show. They've had three seasons so far, but the thing about British television. The seasons are really short. There's three episodes a season. So right now there's only 9 episodes. (ten if you include the original pilot that was never aired on television. The BBC loved it, but decided to give the show runners more money if they'd rework the first episode into a 90min episode. I have that episode on DVD and iTunes) Each season is basically three full length movies. Each one is about 90 minutes long. And their production values are pretty good. So what we don't get in quantity, we get more in quality. The hiatus between seasons runs about two years tho. Season three came out in January. They just announced they'll be filming a special episode in January 2015 to come out later in 2015. Then season 4 will be filmed later on in 2015 to probably be aired in January of 2016. They like to use stories from the original Arthur Conan Doyle stories, but they might rework them a little bit. So not every thing is totally predictable. You pretty much have to be a dedicated and die-hard fan of the show to wait so long between seasons. The show runners are pretty much giving us a treat for the Special that they're filming in January. The two stars of the show are right now two of the hottest names in acting on the planet. Freeman was just in the Fargo miniseries on the FX channel earlier this year. (omg! he was AMAZING in that!). They both have some serious acting commitments right now. Freeman is doing theatre in London right now. He's playing Shakespeare's Richard The Third. From everything I've read, he's totally brilliant in that as well. I'm so sad that I live on the wrong side of the pond right now. I would LOVE to see Freeman playing Richard III. (his character in Fargo was deliciously evil. His Richard III according to reviews is perfectly evil, and if you sit in the first six rows of the theatre, don't wear anything that you want to ever wear again. It's apparently pretty (fake) bloody. Cumberbatch has a ton of movies coming out, and he'll be playing Hamlet on stage in London sometime in the next year or so. Another play I would LOVE to go see. Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare play. ...and enough fangirling over Sherlock and my two favorite actors. Another British tv show that's good right now is Endeavour. Which is the prequel to the detective show "Morse". Endeavour's second season started a couple of weeks ago, and it's third episode is airing on PBS this weekend. I really like Endeavour. So excited that they'll be filming a third season soon. The show Morse, which I've never actually seen an episode of (I need to find it) ran for a long time in England, when it ended they had another show called Inspector Lewis. The main character of Inspector Lewis was in Morse, as Morse's detective sergeant. Inspector Lewis ran for about six seasons (think their seasons had six episodes in them, but still 90mins long). Lewis was canceled last year I think, but I read somewhere that they're bringing it back. On sunday, I watched a British comedy on PBS called Vicious. Which stars Ian McKellen. It was hilarious. I need to set the DVR to record that show. Ian McKellen is about to star as a 93 year old Sherlock Holmes soon. I can't wait to see that. (not sure if it's a theatrical movie, or if it's going to be on television). I will watch anything that has anything to do with Sherlock Holmes. So excited to see Ian McKellen in that. I'm just having tons of fun watching British tv. The Musketeers, Doctor Who, Ripper Street, Downton Abbey. Even watch Law & Order: UK. Starting to collect a lot of dvd's and iTunes downloads. I need to get a new external hard drive to store the iTunes downloads to. Just like that the British tv shows don't have tons of product placement ads in them, and they pretty much have writers who are so much better than what American shows have had lately.

I watched Extant last night to. There was just enough tease to make sure you want to tune into it next week. I sure was surprised when that cute young boy turned over and his 'Dad' took something out of his back and replaced it.

Though I'm largely stuck inside, I still can't get into the boob tube. My husband is a die-hard for Castle and NCIS. I guess about the only show I really like is the Big Bang Theory, Sheldon is my hero, but it's only on re-runs now until fall, and still largely acts as background noise.
There are times I think I might have been born in the wrong era But then I remember to be grateful for AC, refrigeration, and doctors who don't think the mind is in the abdominal region, the heart is in the cranial region and the stomach is in the chest. And of course how could I have survived without hot pink hair dye?! |

I tend to watch a lot of reruns. I like the Inspiration channel which has The Waltons, Matlock, Little House on the Prairie.....tame stuff like that!
I just can't watch all the crime dramas that are so popular right now. Too much violence and people getting hurt for me. Give me Andy Griffith and Wheel of Fortune. That's about my speed now.......

I don't have cable. I have an antennae and depending on what my neighbor upstairs is doing I can sometimes have no TV. BUT . . .I do have a Roku box and watch movies and shows on Netflix, Hulu, Acorn TV. I just canceled Hulu as I don't watch it much at all. Acorn TV has a lot of British shows, is cheaper than Hulu and Netflix, so I just added the channel to my Roku.
I finished watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, season 2. I love that show. I just saw that Netflix put Cedar Cove (from the Hallmark Channel) on there and I just started watching that. So far I like it. Like Kelly, I watch softer, cleaner shows. I used to love thrillers and crime shows but something changed in me and I don't like to watch them anymore. I like lighthearted things now and dramedies. |
