The first cat midwife experience involved a cat too young and small to have a litter. She sought me out, knowing something felt wrong, had 3 dead kittens, requiring a vet to remove 4th dead kitten still inside her. In the second case, 4 healthy kittens were born. The mother cats did most of the work thank goodness.

I'm not sure exactly how my fish was feeling, but she was not seeming that comfortable with the process. She was very agitated in the tank and it looked like one of the babies was having a hard time coming out. But her trials ended shortly after midnight and her four little itty bitty babies all seem to be doing well under the care of our male betta . He seems to have bought more trouble for himself as he's trying to keep the Molly babies away from the guppy babies along with keeping the other fish away from his two nurseries.

But in any event, there's not many fish that do, but some do give live births rather than laying eggs if that was more the question of laboring fish lol

Thanks for your colorful and informational seminar on cat and fish birthing. We got more than what we asked for by getting cat and fish.

Hi Everyone!

I have MIA for quite a while. DD25 (26 on Thursday), got married on the 8th. I spent a lot of time over the past couple of months helping her with decorations as such. Everything came together beautifully. And, I now have time to think and breath.

I have been helping DD23 with my grandson one day a week, for the most part. It is exhausting to say the least. He is all over the place and I will only watch him at my house as it is much smaller than theirs. I can close off the doors to the bedrooms and bathroom which leaves the living room/dining room and kitchen for him to explore.

I hope to be able to post more often now that things are settling down from my recovery from surgery and the wedding stuff. I have thought of you all often and have lurked at least once a week to check on you all.

Have a great day!

Tricia!!!

Where in the Sam Hill have you been?? I have thought of you every day and hoped you were doing well.

Congratulations on the wedding. And your grandbaby is what......15 or 16 months old now? He was born around the same time as my grandbabies were I think.

Well, I'm glad you're back and doing well. I've been super busy but cannot watch both grandbabies by myself. When they are both here it's pandemonium! Wow, I wish I had 1/10 of their energy! It's 5:20 PM here and they just left about a half hour ago. I'm sitting here in my nightgown eating some popcorn for supper and I'm going to bed for a nap!

Hope everyone was safe in today's round of storms. We had a small tornado in our area but as you know tornados can be in your area and you not affected at all. Just lots of rain for us.

We're having a garage sale this weekend. Well, my DIL has done most of the work and it's mostly their stuff. My garage is FULL to the brim. It will be Friday and Saturday and we're praying for nice weather. They are sodding their backyard so any proceeds from this sale will go to "the grass fund" I'm sure.

I had a bit of a scare last night. Probably why I'm up at this ridiculous hour. I was shaving my legs and almost finished. I was shaving the back of my calf when I knicked my leg. Now, I didn't even feel it and was continuing with shaving when I noticed blood splattered all over the floor on the other side of the bathroom!! I had knicked a place where there was a varicose vein right beneath the surface. A line of blood was spewing out and it was going all the way across the bathroom! It was like a faucet had been turned on. I kept applying pressure but every time I'd release the pressure the stream of blood would launch itself across the bathroom. It was beginning to look like a crime scene!

At this point I had lost what appeared to be a significant amount of blood. I called my DIL and explained what had happened. She loaded the babies in the car and came right over. She had a first aid kit and, if I could have gotten to the kitchen without spewing blood everywhere I could have gotten a bandaid. But I couldn't. She put a large bandaid over the knicked area. It was still bleeding so she called 911 because I was beginning to get a little lightheaded.

This is the part where I thought of Sally!! She would have been so proud.....I had five....yes, five handsome EMT's in my bedroom!! That was the first time I've EVER had five men in my bedroom!! Why so many responded I have no idea but my poor son drove up not knowing the whole story and there was an ambulance and a fire truck parked in front of my house. He bolted inside and found us all chatting in my bedroom. I used to work for the Fire Department in the 80's and the EMT's were asking me if I knew certain people who had worked there for years. I recognized several names and we had fun talking about how much things had changed in the department since I was there. I have always wished I had stayed at that job because I loved it (it was an office job). I had my single bandaid on my leg and everyone packed up and left. Before the EMT who seemed to be in charge left he told me that this would be at no charge since I didn't go to the ER. Wow!! I was thinking it was going to be a couple hundred dollars. Nice surprise.

What was so funny was that the whole time I was thinking "boy am I glad I shaved my legs"!!

Yikes, Kelly!!!! I'm glad you are okay. I'm sure that must have been so scary for you, your DIL, and son! But, the 5 EMT's in your bedroom must have been a treat! Nick a varicose vein...I'll have to remember that trick for when I'm bored.

DGS is 16-months old, almost 17-months. He is so dang smart. It's actually scary. The pediatrician was blown away by his intelligence. She said he is doing things that a 2 to 2 1/2 year old should be doing. She said that a couple of months ago. His vocabulary is incredible. The downside, he is an extremely cautious little one and as such he is not walking. He can do it, but he just doesn't want to fall. He has never fallen while trying to walk and is so good at catching himself and doing squats but he just won't do it on his own.

How are your DGDs, Kelly? They are so adorable. Grand parenting is awesome, isn't it? I love it. It's all cuddles and fun and then they go home at night.

I spent some time painting this morning. I haven't really done a lot of artwork for a long while now. The past few days I have been working on mini paintings. It keeps me busy and keeps me from getting too bored.

Hope you all have a great day!

kitty, you didn't tell us anything about how they stopped the bleeding! I'm sure with 5 EMT's in your bedroom, your blood pressure wasn't just wonderful, maybe a titch high. So how did they stop it. WOW, you had quite the experience. Don't ever do that again. What kind of nighty were you in whit those 5 guys??? Good luck on your yard sale. The only yard sale I have ever had that went to a particular purpose was for my daughter's wedding. We didn't tell anyone and it wasn't advertized but we sure got a lot of money. She didn't want to take it but after about a month did call me and said she would take it. I have a feeling she was pushed by her fiance'.

trish, my oldest daughter was like that. I remember being worried that at 18 months she wasn't walking. Now she could carry on a conversation with you and not just with 3 word sentences. She had paragraphs. She knew how to walk. She just didn't want to let go of our finger, table or anything. Remember the old Fisher Price popcorn popper??? That's what she would push all over the house. I was so proud when she finally let go of that thing. Of course we always knew where she was.

Doydie, the bleeding eventually stopped after we had applied pressure for what seemed like forever. Wish it had been one of the hunky EMT's doing that but it was my DIL!! And I had on an older nightgown because I didn't want to put on a newer (and cuter) one to shave my legs. Drat! At least it was clean. Well, clean with blood all over it! It was quite the experience and I wouldn't recommend it to meet hunky men! The whole time I was thinking "at least my bedroom and bathroom are clean and I don't have Sasquatch legs anymore". Those guys see so much weird stuff on all the calls they go on I'm sure mine was quite boring.

I'm getting a little anxious about this garage sale because DIL and son are being very slow in getting everything organized. Well, I take that back......they're doing it differently than I would so I guess we'll see on Friday morning how much is left to do. I get the feeling they're going to want to get started very early. I'm sure everything will be fine and this is a good exercise for me to learn that I do not have to add my 2 cents worth to everything.

Doydie, I'm thinking that DS will have to have quite a yard sale when those two girls get married. He will have double the expense for everything!! He said he's going to encourage eloping!! Now I know he's just kidding but once he sees how expensive weddings are he just might be OK with that idea!
