Ah what fun it is to live in the south.... It's hot, and raining, got chased by a snake yesterday, and I'm going to be putting my poor kitty down for the big sleep sometime this week if he doesn't show any signs of improvement. He's 17 years old and has been quite the trooper but he's just not been able to eat anything in the past 4 days

Between the heat, the snake, the cat, the DSD, DGB and throngs of ignorant strangers I've been dealing with lately I'm just about done and summer hasn't even really started yet . But hey, some good news... my mom is going to come over and help me with some long over due house cleaning later on this week. Not that it will matter as my DGB will be coming over afterwards and all our efforts will have been for naught. Can you tell I'm just dripping with pessimism today? I blame the snake.... Why do they like camping outside my doors so much? I don't even live in the country! Aren't they supposed to be in the woods... more afraid of people than we are of them? Why hasn't anyone given the snakes in my neighborhood that memo?

Maybe I need to spend my summer teaching a snake literacy program so I can put up the signboards for them and go back to fearing them in peace.

Hi Everyone!

Doydie - Ouch!!!! I hope you're feeling better.

Kelly - Glad your DS is home and safe. Apparently, we are all in for a wetter spring/summer this year. I'm guessing it will entail more severe storms too, but I haven't read up on weather patterns during El Nino years. I'm hoping that we don't get too much rain as 110 degrees plus high humidity equals MISERY!!! I would not like that at all.

As usual, I haven't been up to much. I should be working on a painting for DD26 but have been completely unmotivated lately. She wants a simple painting too. The perfectionist in me is having trouble with it as she wants 4 arrows in gold. I want everything to be lined up and perfect and I know it won't be. I asked her if organically shaped arrows was fine and she said yes. I'm still having trouble with it as the lines won't be straight and even. *sigh* I have the front part of the arrow drawn out as well as the long "stick" but have yet to do the tail end of the arrow. Hopefully some motivation will start kicking in soon.

I hope you all have a great day!

I learned something new today... I found out that you can continue to grow even after turning 25. My mother and I were talking about how I prefer the bar stools in my house that are counter height to regular chairs. I was telling her that it's because I can just sit on them, unlike the chairs where I have to sit "down", leaving my center of gravity to sit. They always feel too low too me, toilets are the same, and how I wish I could raise every counter in my house up about 3 or more inches.

I told her that it's not like I'm freakishly tall either, I mean I'm only considered 5'8" if you round up to the nearest inch. Well one thing led to another and next thing I knew I was standing up straight beside a measuring tape.... at 25 a similar argument had me measured and I learned I was no longer the 5'6" that I always thought I was but 5'7.5"... well this time it turns out that I am now 5'8.25", at age 35. I thought we were suppose to shrink as we aged? How am I still growing??? That's it, no more milk for me I mean my inseam is already a ridiculous 32" which is the same inseam my 6 foot uncle had. Good news though is it drops my BMI some So yippee for tallness, I can eat more chocolate.

Great!! I just need to grow 5 more inches and I'll be at the perfect weight for my height!! Seems so much easier than trying to lose weight.

Hi Everyone!

Starz - I'm with Kelly on this one. I need to grow a little to catch up to my BMI. Actually, I'm having some issues and have recently put on a lot of weight in a very, very short amount of time. So, maybe things will even out and I'll be back at my normal weight once all my Dr. 'Ologists figure out what is going on.

It's getting HOT!!!! I don't think another break in the heat is in store for us until the fall (October/November). I going to apologize ahead of time for my complaining of the heat. Anything over 80 is hot to me and summers are just brutal with the heat and MS. The mornings and evenings are still nice though so at least I can get out and walk during those times. Of course, it won't last and before long it will be too hot morning and evening to do anything.

I spend some time this past weekend with DD24 and my grandson. He's getting to be such a big boy and is starting to want to do everything by himself, which naturally leads to frustration and small bursts of a tantrum. DD24 is in for it when the full blown tantrums start. As of this weekend, he is now sleeping in a toddler bed. DD24 converted his crib to the toddler bed, which basically entailed taking off one rail of the crib. He loves it.

I started watching the whole series of Friends a few weeks back and have now finished it. I had forgotten how funny that show really is. I am sure my next door neighbors wonders why I am up late laughing. j/k I'm sure she can't hear me as I never hear her or her son (9-years old). I never hear any of my neighbors. I love that about this apartment complex. My upstairs neighbor did move out though. He lived there with his 21-year old daughter. I very rarely heard either of them. They were really quiet and I'm hoping the new people that move in there are equally quiet.

I hope you all have a great day!

Morning everyone!! Happy day

Sounds as if summer has begun in earnest for some of you. We had a real cold snap here in the midwest, but now things are warm and some much-needed rain has come to the northwoods. All of the grass we got to grow last year died in the drought this spring after a warm and practically snowless winter.

I've been dealing with a doozy of a sinus infection for 11 days now. I was coughing so much that I lost my voice last Monday. Went to the doc Tuesday and was given ABs and special cough medicine, but I was still coughing most of the night and could only get about 4 hours of sleep.

Last night I finally got 7 hours Hardly coughing much anymore, which is good. Now just waiting for voice to return-DH said don't rush it

Hope everyone has a great day! Those in the path of severe weather, keep a look out...

Hi Everyone!

Debbie - I'm so sorry you are suffering with a bad sinus infection. I am glad you got a full 7 hours sleep last night! You're body needs that sleep right now. I read a study about the benefits of sleep when healing. It was hospital based, but I think it would apply to anyone with any illness.

This afternoon DD26 will be taking me to the lab for some testing (blood and urine). I hate that we have to go in the afternoon as I think it's supposed to be in the 90s today. She goes to work earlier in the warmer months and gets off earlier so this afternoon is what works best for her. I called the lab to make sure they had the orders for the tests and the lady, quite rude I might add, said they didn't have it. I called the doctor's office and they said that the order was sent. They are going to fax them this time. I think the rude lady just didn't want to bother investigating further to find out where the lab order was. Hopefully, they will have the order by the time DD26 picks me up.

I hope you all have a great day!

Well here in Evansville Mother Nature has finally decided it is May. we have had temps in the low 40's and we have been pulling coats out that we had stored for the rest of the year. But we finally have 70's and 80's and that's the way I like it!

My husband had his presurgery lab and chest xray today. Last night in his diarrhea he saw one of his main medicines for his ulcerative colitis just sitting there whole, not being disolved at all. So it got him to thinking that should we go back to the drawing board and wait on surgery. Although I knew pretty much what the doctors office would say I said that I would support him in whatever decision he made and that we really needed to sit also and put down pros and cons of the surgery even if we put it off and 'went back to the drawing board'. So he called the office early AM since he is up all night with diarrhea anyway. They told him that with the masses and how far along the ulcerative colitis had advanced he needed to go ahead with it. They also had the surgeon personally call him to reassure him. DH main concern is the anesthesia and waking up as the same guy he was before surgery. The anesthisiologist will talk to us before surgery and if he needs sedation before going under. Charlie told me later that what he wanted to hear was that surgeon would guarantee Charlie would be OK. He didn't care if it were a little white lie, he just wanted to hear it. I told him that legally he can't say that. But I was listening in and he reassured him as well as he could.

Anyway, back to the lab. Last week when we saw the scheduler she said to get lab work Monday or Tuesday. So when the instructions sheet came in the mail yesterday it said in capital letters before May 24. Mail got there around 5 PM. This guy can't just get up and go, especially if it is high diarrhea time which 5 PM is. So I call the hospitals outpatient lab and they closed at 6 PM. Well to bad so sad. Did lab today. When we get there first of all the office had not called it in. So nice lady calls office and one of the orders ahdn't even been signed! Well, finally got it done and now we are jsut waiting for friday.

My daughter who didn't even think we would want her here and rather have the family up when he felt better and getting used to everything. I insisted that she call me so we could listen to each other's voices. That is one thing I hate about messages and texts. So she could tell I really wanted her here. It is Memorial Day weekend so she will come in Thursday late evening and leave on Monday. She'll have the kids face time us so the girls can say hi to their grandpa and tell them they love him. Lord jsut get us through this surgery and let there be no complications.

Hi Everyone!

Doydie - I sent you a PM. Keeping you both in my prayers!

The kids are out of school now. I love it as I can hear them playing outside. Hearing kids playing is such a happy sound to me. They all seem to be having such a fun time out there. That is what summer breaks are all about. Of course, once it gets hotter out, they too will be hibernating and I'll only hear them during the cooler hours of the day, if at all.

I hope you all have a great day!
