Not much news from end. Waiting for spring, but planted a few tomato seeds so there will be those little plants to fawn over in the weeks to come.
Month end and prep for tax time has kept me occupied for the past week. Slow as molasses in January. Well, at least the month is right . Hoping to do some meaningful clinic work in the coming months. With love, Erika |

LoveCats, when we changed from regular cokes to diet coke we started out 100% coke and then gradually changed the % to all diet coke. Maybe you could try that with the caffeine.

I don't know that I would switch to a diet soda... Even if just trying to keep up with caffeine... The artificial sweeteners are really really bad for the kidneys and liver, and can block many nutrients. Plus sugar does help some with pain, and pain helps the body burn off sugars.
Pain causes a response from the adrenaline system, as the body uses its adrenaline it restores it from your body's sugar stores. Chronic pain and low blood sugar can create all sorts of problems, and tricking the body with fake sugars can lead to thyroid problems (the thyroid is also part of the adrenaline system which helps to regulate the release and production of adrenaline). Personally, I used to drink diet versions of my favorite sodas, healthier choice right... But was constantly getting 'shocky' from pain. Only way to maintain consiousness was to eat sugar packets, I mean lips would go blue, skin translucent, shaky, low respirations, cold sweat, low pulse, high blood pressure... Shock... Switched back to full sugar sodas and it hasn't been as much of an issue. And I've lost weight So now I feel kinda silly for arguing with my brother over diet vs regular sodas. But at least I'm no longer freaking out when I realize I didn't grab a handful of pixie stix when I leave the house. Now if you're prediabetic or diabetic, and still really need your caffeine and you don't like tea or coffee without sugar, you could try taking no dose instead.

We have the sweetest little lady in our Sunday School class at church. We had a going away lunch for her today. Sheis 99, #100 coming up real soon and her son has finally convinced her to live with him and his wife in Ohio. The saddest part for her was that she had to give up her car, yes, she was still driving. She is quick witted, smart as a tack. A real sweetheart.
Rather bad week at church this past week, the pastor had a really tough GI bug which kept him vomiting for 4 days. During that time we had a dear church member die at 2 AM one day and just 12 hours later another one died.

Happy Saturday everyone
Erika, wish I didn't have a black thumb--I love plants and flowers and such. I do have a couple of plants indoors that I take outside during the summer months. I have almost killed one of them but DH refuses to let me throw it out. Doydie, wow almost 100 and she was still driving? Glad she has agreed to live with her son...things can change so quickly and it's better that she isn't living alone when that occurs. The tiling is almost finished in the master bathroom the worker needs to create a tiled hatch for access to the jetted tub motor area, then tile the floor. The company that is making the glass enclosure for the shower is coming out next week to measure for that. I am hopeful that we will have the bathroom in working order within a week to ten days-it's been difficult only having a powder room for a bathroom. We are in for a heavy snowstorm this weekend...we'll see. The weather people have cried wolf too often this season. Have a wonderful weekend all--anyone in the path of the new snowstorm be careful!

LoveCats - I did have a bit of a headache for the first three days but they were not too bad. Tylenol helped. I only drank one to two diet cokes a day, but there was nothing like that first sip. I did try one last week when I was eating out and it tasted like chemicals to me. So I tossed it and got an ice tea instead. I am drinking lots of water and some unsweetened ice tea. I have tried La Croix but I don't love it and since carbonation is still bad for your bone density I think I will just stick to tea and water. I do use fresh limes (they are really cheap down here) sometimes in my water.

Funny one Sally...that pretzel looks like how I woke up .
Must be getting better though because lately staying on a train of thought long enough to carry a task through has been a no go, much less being able to hang on to a craving and getting it together to satisfy it. Yet, chocolate cake of all things settled in the mind yesterday and wouldn't leave me in peace. By evening I had actually managed to bake a brownie recipe. I haven't' done that in years; mostly because its not something that I normally eat. The dog and I had chocolate brownies for a night time snack last night and I had another piece for breakfast this morning . I nearly embarrassed myself (again), but caught the error in time not to. Was setting up some banking stuff for tax time and struggled through a whole lot of info and calculations so I could go into the bank tomorrow and set up a Registered Disability Savings account. The Canadian government matches contributions and adds to that amount with bonds, so I thought that it would be a good idea to set it up. Duh...even though time and again on all of the info it says to qualify for the matching funds and bonds, you have to be under 49 years old, I didn't clue in. Some how I had my age as 45 while I was doing the math and set up application, but I'm actually 54. No I don't suffer from dyslexia...apparently cognitive pretzelization is a possibility though . At least I didn't discover the error while in the bank. Doing some cognitive exercises and physical therapy at home today. Will also be making some soup. That's about it. Wishing everyone a good day. With love, Erika |
