Auntie - I remember Gunsmoke and Rawhide but not the other 2. My brother's used to watch them and loved them. That was back in the day when it was ok to play cops and robbers and cowboys and Indians with play guns.

Hi tkrik, I used to love playing Cowboys and Indians as a youngster, but I was always a bit of a tomboy! And yes, it is nice to reflect on bygone days before political correctness ran amok in our society.

Reruns of Rifleman are still shown on tv in our vicinity on the oldies channel, but Have Gun Will Travel seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Auntie - I looked on Hulu for Have Gun Will Travel and didn't see it. I found it on TV.com but you have to have a Xfinity subscription to watch it. There may be other places online that has it where you can watch it without a subscription.

It was so much easier when kids could be kids and didn't have to worry about being politically correct and getting suspended from school for not being so. Heck, things have gotten so politically correct I don't even know what's politically correct anymore.

When I played cowboys & Indians, I was always the Indian. (which I could do, and be politically correct. My mom has at least two sets of grandparents, from different generations, where one of the grandparents were Choctaw Indian. Not sure what percentage that makes me now tho)

I wonder if my makebelieve bows and arrows would be considered weapons like "finger guns" are now? (my makebelieve bow was either just a stick, with no string on it...or it was totally imaginary)

I think Monty Python had it right when they did a lot of their skits, p.c. to the extreme before their was such a thing lol. Maybe that's the problem with society today, too many Python fans who completely missed the jokes and became lawyers

Doydie - I always get songs stuck in my head. Well, usually the catchy tunes. The theme song for the Monkees is one of those catchy tunes that easily get stuck in you head.

I loved, loved, loved Carol Burnett. Her shows were so funny. I have not been able to find them on Netflix or Hulu or online anywhere. I would love to watch them again.

Remember some of the game shows? Some of them were great.

The Price is Right
The Dating Game
Password
Concentration
Hollywood Squares

Ummm....I can't think of any more but I will eventually.

Hi tkrik, there are many DVDs available of the Carol Burnett Show. Here is one of them:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Carol-Burn...uckduckgo-d-20

Some of her shows were hilarious. I particularly liked the antics of Vicki Lawrence and Harvey Korman. Vicki Lawrence also had her own show called Mama’s Family which I thought was quite good.

Do you remember the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts? Those were always a lot of fun.

Auntie - Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out and see if it is something I can afford and save for.

I remember Mamma's Family. That was a funny show too.

I've only heard of Dean Martin Roasts. I have never actually watch one though.

tkrik, if you or someone in your family can get to a local library, you may be able to find DVDs of some of your favorite shows there.

Our library is part of a countywide system that makes DVDs available to a borrower from any library in the system. Last year I found that one of our libraries had nearly all of the Celebrity Roasts on their shelves. You may be able to find some of Carol Burnett at a library too.
