Oh, I wonder about that! I have a very small # <5, of sellers who really made me angry. I didn't give feedback at all to them.

I did receive a PayPal email recently about a class action suit against PayPal for withholding payments to some sellers. But with all the scammers/spoofs from the internet about PayPal and Ebay...I didn't know if it were true. Since I don't sell there, I more or less skimmed over it.

I buy artist supplies and a few rare items hard to find locally for the house, only there.

I got that notice, too! I wondered what it was but I don't sell there either so I tossed it.

Oh. My. Gosh. Overwrapping and overtaping!! It took me a good twenty minutes just to get into a small envelope! The seller had taken packing tape and wrapped it around and around the item several times. It was a bottle of Feliway spray for the cats......but it was packed like it was one of the Queen's crown jewels. I guess it's either that or deal with damage.

Lightbulb

The padded envelops get ripped open by the sorting machines.

I had that happen last year. I sent photos to the seller and he was horrified! It is possible that he told others etc.

Our carrier suggested wrapping padded envelops along the back with slippery packing tape to avoid this type of damage, which happens commonly, according to her.

Here is a photo of this type of damage. The title of the photo reflects a vintage usage of a N word term, whose modern renaming was Nero. These European vintage leads are used for drawing with a special holder, and the two heavy small packs were at the bottom of this package and miraculously did not fall out. But it was delivered this way to me ripped straight across the back of the envelope! This is the photo I sent to the seller. He was very nice and when I several weeks later won another of a similar item from him he put in a 3rd package as a favor for my help ..he was a rare guy who appreciated knowing what happens in the mail.

Be careful what you wish for.

I have used PayPal for years. It's supposed to be the "safer" way to shop online.

Well, I noticed several transactions on my bank account (I check it every day online) that I knew I had not made. Looking further I saw they were made by someone with a name and an email address I didn't recognize.

I immediately called PayPal. This was the first time I've ever had an issue with them or had to contact them.

I held for 48 minutes then had to take another call that was beeping in.

I decided to write them in the "contact us" section. No response.....at all. Ever.

Tried calling back but had the same experience three times before giving up.

I called my bank and they got right on it. In fact the lady I spoke with said most of their "unauthorized charge" cases were with PayPal!!

Most of the charges were less than $50 and she told me that is the norm for cases like this because the offending party tries to use smaller amounts so that you don't notice it immediately....like you would a $500 transaction.

Well, it's all been taken care of and I have been reimbursed the amounts in question.....turns out there were 8. Not sure what if anything the bank will do since the total of all the transactions came to just under $100.

PayPal is now waking up and has sent me an email asking if I want to "reconsider" my actions and reimburse them for the unauthorized transactions!! Really?? I think not...and I also think that email will go unanswered!!

Kelly, your post prompted me to take my card out of Paypal. I had a small problem and really got no help from them. It was a not an expensive experience and I need to regard it as a wake-up call before a big problem happens. I think I'm done getting stuff, if not will do what is needed that takes more time and effort. Worth it to avoid a bigger problem. Most sellers great but one spoiled it for me!

Good idea. I don't know if they still have my card, but haven't used them for along time.
They keep asking me to update my info and they have gone unanswered.

That's a great idea. Kicker. This is the first problem I've had with PayPal but it will be the last. There is nothing I need bad enough to trust them again.

Some years ago I used eBay a few times--both buying and selling. I haven't been inspired to go back there though because dealing with it was moderately stressful.

Anything involving a deadline is stressful to me.

As for PayPal, I found them stressful but in a different way. It was one more financial arrangement to remember and keep track of. I bowed out of it some years ago.

Finances have to be kept really simple for me.
