I wanted to share this product I found. Looks like it would make life with cats so much easier especially for those of us with dexterity issues. I've ordered one and will let you all know how it works out.

That does look neat. my husband and I are still OK to do the litter scooping. As his Parkinson's progresses and with the fact that he doesn't eat hardly anything now because of his Ulcerative colitis, handling the big bag of food has become a big problem. It takes both of us to pour food from the bag into a gallon size zip lock bag. We have to refill that bag quite frequently! So I was finally intelligent enough when we had to get a new bucket of litter to clean the old bucket out and pour the bag of food into the bucket! Now how we are going to take the locking plastic ring off the new bucket of litter, I don't know. If we can't do it, we will have to have our daughter help us. But I am trying to let her know that she should never feel she has to stay here to take care of her parents.

I order all my litter, food and any supplies for the cats. It helps a lot having it delivered right to my door. The FedEx driver knows my limitations and puts all boxes inside my front door. I've started ordering smaller containers of litter. I don't get the steep discount the large buckets get but I have to use what I can handle. Right now it's the 14 pound container. Same thing with dry cat food. I get the smallest bag and transfer it into a tupperware container so it stays fresh.

Someone here had suggested putting the litter box up higher so that I did not have to bend over to scoop litter. We put the box on larger sturdy cardboard moving boxes with a car oil pan as a table top.
My cleaning crew vacuums the sand every two weeks when they clean |

I wish I could do that but my cats wouldn't be able to get to it! Gracie Girl is old and fat (like me!! ) and has a hard time getting around. We both make quite the pair first thing in the morning!! The other two would probably figure it out eventually. I think it was SandyC who suggested that years ago. Haven't heard from her or Jim in years. Hope they are well.

Finally got smart enough to keep an old litter container after it was empty. So I cleaned it out and poured our huge bag of food in that. Yes, I do have to bend down to scoop some out and my back is kind of stiff in the AM but so far I am OK. There will come a time when we can't carry that big bag of cat food from shelf to grocery cart and then to car and from there up stairs to our kitchen. By then we may have a stair lift and we can just put the food on the stair lift!

I promise you that after you get your first order you'll wonder why you waited so long to try it!! I'm to the point now that I have to order the 5 pound bags of dry food. They're the easiest ones for me to handle. Once one is opened I put it all in a storage container. You'll get an email alerting you to the date of delivery. I watched for the delivery driver the first shipment that delivered and asked him to set the boxes inside my door. Now, he knows I need that help so he sets all deliveries inside for me. He's a saint. I hope you try this. I know you still drive and like to do things away from home but I just wanted to share the idea.

meowkitkat, we just stopped using the zip lock method. We get the largest size possible and we were storing it on top of our china cabinet. We would then pour as much as this small bucket that we could. But his fist broke the bucket one time when he got angry. So we then moved to the method of filling a gallon size zip lock bag and putting it on top of the fridge where I could easily handle it. But with my husbands list of ever growing health problems and my MS we just couldn't easily get it off the china cabinet and fill that zip lock bag. so that is when I got the brilliant idea of keeping a bucket from her kitty litter and pouring the food in there! I get one good idea a year and now I have used it

That litter scooper looks great, let us know how you like it!
I go through a fair amount of dry cat food for the outside ferals and I just cut open the top and leave it open, we scoop it out as needed with a small plastic container. Its kept in a closet so my inside chubbies can't get into it. I haven't ever had it go bad or get bugs so that is as good as it gets for my critters. They always gobble it up and its not as if it is going to get dry and hard so I figure its a decent system.
