Default We had a tornado on the Oregon coast!

I know there are plenty of people who live where they have whole seasons for tornados, but this is a first for us.

Luckily it was an in service day or there would have been a bunch of kids waiting for the bus right where the worst of the damage was!

My husband was just a block away from it, I was about a mile away with our two kids and my nephew. We were under a tornado warning for half the day. Sitting in the bathroom with three kids that scared and power being out was pretty bad.

I have to say, that was the most scared I have been as an adult, and I couldn't show my fear at all. I was trying to keep the kids calm. My daughter was so terrified she was shaking, stuttering and sweating. The two boys were crying. Nothing i did or said helped calm their nerves.

My husband is public works director in the town it hit, so he has been working like crazy since.

But, because we're a small town, the support for all the people and businesses that have damage has been amazing. They have had so many offers for help that they had to say, what we can really use is you to come to the town and shop. The next weekend was very busy with tourists, it was great.

No injuries or deaths. But so far 144 buildings, I'm sure there will be many more as people who have their vacation homes here come to check them out for damage. We goal lucky, a town that isn't prepared for that at all, it could have been so much worse.
