Default Checking In

My, how time flies...it's been awhile since I checked in here. I occasionally peek to see how everyone's doing, but it's been a busy summer...

We now have six grand babies...DD had girl #3 this May. That brings it to 1 boy and 5 girls...ironic, since I had 3 boys and one girl.

Had a busy summer going up to our lake house several times. We invited two couples up and had a great time. Then the kids came in...the noise is unbelievable when they're together (the grand babies). Is it MS that makes it difficult to tolerate, or the fact that I'm old?

I messed up my shoulder in June and finally got around to going to see the shoulder doc a couple of weeks ago...another case of bursitis. I will go in for an injection when I return home from the lake. I'm grateful it doesn't require surgery.

I feel as if my legs are getting weaker. Even though I exercise (elliptical, bike, weight machines), I'm having more trouble getting up from a sitting position, and my balance isn't as good. I brought it up with the neuro in June...he didn't even react.

Ah well...hope everyone is doing well. Where is everyone?

Hi Debbie! I've been a little MIA myself.

Congrats on the grandkids! It's hard to believe you have 6 now. DD27 is expecting her first baby in February. That will be my second.

I think the inability to deal with the craziness and noise is both an age thing and the MS. Cognitively, it's difficult to process all that is going on and kids are just all over the place both in action and noise. I also think that we get used to the peace and quite as the kids get older and then move out on their own. Then come the grands and oh my goodness!!! It's chaos to us.

I too am having more trouble standing up from a sitting position. I am now in physical therapy and it's been helping. I have noticed a slow decline since my surgery a couple of years ago. I have been attributing it to that. Maybe one of your doctors can prescribe some PT to help strengthen you legs/pelvic floor. Keeping those muscles strong will help us if we fall.

Thanks for checking in.

My news.....

DD27, as I mentioned, will be having her first baby in February. She's pretty excited about it. Her husband has been so good to her and making sure she is taken care of and has been going to all her appointments with her. It's so sweet to see.

DD26 is busy rocking the single working mom thing. Poor thing gets so exhausted and overwhelmed though. She deals with patients all day long and then has to deal with a sassy 2.5 year old. 2.5 to 3 is crazy!!!! They like little tornados in both sound and destruction.

I was "lucky" to have a long vacation in the hospital. The good news is that I may not need more surgery to my stomach. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My GI doctor put me on a new med to see if we can keep the inflammation down and avoid surgery.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Check in when you can.

Long time, no see, everyone

I'm still doing that divorced single mom thing. Had a job promotion in the fall which has been rewarding in both that it's challenging and in pay.

Ahh the boys...I'm at the cusp of having three teenage sons, holy sweet lord. DS15, DS12, DS11.

DS15 has had quite a maladjustment into high school. Which has given me more stress than anything, nothing like getting into trouble or anything, but a serious bout with school refusal.

DS12, I have my hands full with this one. He's all piddidle and vinegar. Not in school, of course, he bottles it all up for home.

DS11 has taken the family by storm and in spite of his initial developmental delays and learning disabilities found himself with his very first gold star report card-honor roll.

And growing.....these boys are growing like weeds. DS15 is about to surpass my 6' frame. He was 5'10" a couple of weeks ago for his annual physical. I worry about iron with him, to be candid as far as the school refusal went. It has been like never ending exhaustion for him, hence the bearish and perhaps hormonal outbursts most of those mornings. He's started a state supported and accredited online and interactive school which even offers AP and archived classes and coursework.

My health still seems rather stable. I've certainly pushed my own checkups and everything to the background in the hustle and bustle of all these changes. Even the job puts me full time, but more teacher's hours.

We've had some quality family adventures this year. They had their first times on an airplane to go West for my dad's wedding. And we are just coming off a spring vacation week.

When I ever saw the date of my last log in, my jaw did drop.
