Get the mail yesterday. Great more forms from Social Security
Imagine my total surprise when the letter states YOU HAVE BEEN DECLARED DISABLED!!! I had just applied in July and they had just sent me to a psychologist and a rehab specialist in January....so I figured I would be lucky to hear something by this summer. I know it sounds really weird to be so excited to be declared disabled, I guess it's good to know I am not going looney and I cannot work anymore. I was having serious difficulty coming to terms with my limitations. I had just returned to nursing after being off raising the kids and totally changed fields from Pediatrics to Adult Cardiology, which I never would have considered in my younger days.....I LOVED my job & co-workers, even though it was challenging. I will keep my prayers going for those going through the Soc Security maze and hope everything goes smoothly for all. To everyone on this board and the 'former' board..reading the boards has helped me to get through this challenging time my life and I thank all of you for being just a 'click' away. What a relief for you. Sometimes bad news is good news.

Great news, Ris!!!! It's kind of bittersweet though, huh? It's really hard to reconcile the notion that we can find relief and peace in being told that we are declared disabled.
Good for you, get some peaceful rest and learn to love the golf channel!

For me it was a financial relief as well. Single mom's aren't supposed to get sick. We went through some really rough times. |

Good for you Ris~~
Glad the process wasn't long and drawn out. I know many are still fighting the system. Hopefully, others will get good news soon, too. When your'e fighting an illness, it is hard to say that being labeled is a good thing, but when your'e unable to carry on w/employment b/c of it, then you should be helped out. I'm glad for you.

I understand the mixed feelings, went through them myself. Glad the battle was an easy one for you, was for me too.
