Ok, heart has stopped pounding. Got that horrible, terrifying call!! High School Attendance office called to say DD wasn't in school, asked me to please call in absence in future. BUT DD DID GO TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING!!! She takes a school bus, going down long drive and waiting alone on roadside. I made calls fast. Turns out she's there, substitute got attendance wrong. My heart and breathing are now returning to normal.

That's awful!!! I would've been horrified too. Incompetence is everywhere. I'm so glad she's safe.

LOL, sorry you had a scare, Kick. I'm laughing because as a non-parent, my immediate reaction was "Bummer, busted!" LOL, understand that this is no reflection of my youth.
Glad she's okay!

AMN, you are baaaaad! J/K
Kicker, isn't it nice you have a dependable daughter? So glad she's safe! Grrrrrrr that the sub caused you to worry. I remember the days (starting to sound like an OLD person!) when I had 2 kids in high school. I was trying to be a "good" Mom (Gestapo) and would show up at the school at least once a week to see if they were attending classes. They weren't. Glad those days are behind me. Kids turned out okay, despite my mothering. But in my defense, aren't Mom's supposed to worry? Curious, glad your found your 6 year old monkey. They are so cute and we love them so much!

I'm sorry you had to go through that. My first thought was the same as AMN BUSTED!
Glad she was at school. I remember one time that my mom got locked out of the house so she came up to the high school to get my house key. (I wasn't there) I got caught no matter what I did LOL. It was not a happy day for me!

Kicker, I am very glad your daughter is okay and the sub made a mistake. Yes, it can be very scary AMN - I had the same reaction as you and I am a parent My daughter went through a very bad few months last school year and ditched classes many times her freshman year of high school. She panicked at one point and never came home from school. Needless to say after not seeing her get off the bus and driving around for over an hour I was terrified. I went to the police station and reported her as a runaway then went home and started making calls. This was on a Friday and we finally found her, with the help of an ex-boyfriend, at 1:15 Saturday morning. We took her to the police sub-station to inform them we found her and the officer (bless his heart) scared the crap out of her. Thank goodness she seems to have moved on from her freshman year and is doing quite well as a Sophmore with an awesome GPA - yes, proud parent here
