Really? Usually the first thing someone says to me is where the h*&& is Pulaski? LOL It's a beautiful area there and I miss the quietness of it. Still trying to get used to Houston!

Neat! I live near Sandy's sissy :). I use to live in Houston too....long long time ago. I still miss it, even with all the traffic.:winky:

That's life with a spouse in the military.:Head-Spin: We've lived in almost every corner of the US except the Great North West, Alaska and Hawaii. The Huntsville area is home now...and hopefully its the stopping point!

It's so white outside, it feels like I'm living in a Giant Jet puffed marshmallow.

It's still coming down hard...

I just went out to assess the damage and the wind nearly knocked me down! No snow blowing today, mother nature is doing it for me!

mommywms 02-06-2008 05:45 PM

I know,Im about 1 hour and a half from that town in arkansas. but do to hearing loss I didnt even know it was storming.
But I watched on tv this morning.
It is scary forsure..
Im glad e1 is ok for now, anyways.

But im good here.thankgod!!!

Koala77 02-06-2008 05:49 PM

To those who checked in, thank you for letting us know that you're safe. There are still a few "known" to me who haven't posted.

Living in another country makes it hard to work out what states are closest to the storm-hit areas, so until I know you're all safe, I'll continue to worry.

I've lived in a cyclone belt in Australia, and a cyclone is our equivilent to your tornado, just that cyclones are tropical and hit in the summer time (like now), so I know what type of force you're talking about when you mention the winds.

I just want you all to know that I'm thinking of you, and am anxiously waiting to hear that every single member, and their family, are unharmed.

Mega hugs to one and all. :grouphug:

MSCherokee 02-06-2008 05:56 PM

So glad that everyone's checking in and doing OK! :grouphug: I have relatives that live in Tennessee and have been following that line of storms since I heard about it last night.

In Ohio we've had lots of rain and the temps are dropping now with snow expected next. This has been the craziest winter weather we've had in quite a while.

msarkie 02-06-2008 06:03 PM

OK here

Our part of Arkansas didn't get much bad weather - it all went east of here. We had some rain and wind, then last night freezing rain, and snow this morning. My mom lives near Clarksville, AR and was working the elections yesterday. She said they got strong storms with hail, but no tornados.

Atkins is about 30 min east of Clarksville, and they got hit hard. I did my student teaching there back in the early 90's. I hope all my former students made it OK.

We had lots of snow on Thursday morning, very cold. Then Friday, the kids built a snowman and didn't even need their coats on because it had warmed up about 30 degrees. We set a record high temp yesterday (76, I think) and today it's snowing!

Oh well, never boring.

. :grouphug:

I heard once also that the cyclone circles backwards...or counter clockwise...is that true? Amazing earth!!

I also think tornado time is months early? Southern folk? I asked earlier but think it's lost now

I got that all muddled up! Tornadoes are those viscious whirly winds, aren't they? We rarely have them, what I meant was hurricanes.....they're similar to our cyclones.

Sorry for the error. Was still a tad early in the morning for me when I wrote that.

sugarboo 02-06-2008 06:46 PM

LOL Koala!!!

Yes (still grining) a Hurricane is a Cyclone, and yours go the opposite way that ours do....

Do you have a name for tornado? I googled it and got nothing but Whirlwind....is that it down under?

FlyFishin Momma 02-06-2008 07:11 PM

There is a whole list of folks whom I have addys for that live in the states the storms have hit in the past 24 hours and many have not been on here.........

folks in TN,GA,VA,LA and the Carolinas...........

I so bad wanna post names to see if anyone has heard from them....but I promised not to give out personal info................

If anyone has heard from a board bud and knows all is well....please include a post here.......

I talked to Shelly (pickles) this am and they had a pretty rough night but the storms in Memphis, TN managed to get past them....Thank God........

oh yeah and YES this is early for our spring storm season....but it has been 70's and 80's here between the snows.....lol....its all crazy not anything to it is "NORMAL" !!!!! lol lol

anyone heard from anyone else in those states?

Pickles 02-06-2008 07:15 PM

Ha Ha! Still here!!!!

Sorry for not checking in sooner. Me and mine are just fine. I was standing outside watching the tornadoes for a while yesterday. They're pretty but they sure smell funky. Everyone east, watch out...this is truly a nasty storm.

I hope that those who haven't checked in will soon and it's just power out from the winds. (They were strong enough to knock me on my duff and I wasn't in a tornado!!)

Stay safe and warm,
Pickles

Whirlwind or eddie, would be the closest, but we rarely see destruction here with them....thank goodness.

DAY1 02-06-2008 08:19 PM

We get tornadoes whenever the weather wants too.

We have had tornadoes on Christmas Eve before.

You just know if you walk outside and it's warm when it's suppose to be cold, look out.

We knew days in advance it was coming. On Monday it was 73 degrees. I went walking with just a tee shirt. No coat.

There are times you can walk outside and it's too warm. You just know. It's tornado weather.

DAY

sugarboo 02-06-2008 08:25 PM

Interesting!! Thanks!

Koala77 02-06-2008 08:42 PM

I'm still waiting for some of the people I've exchanged post cards with to check in.

If you're on line ladies....we're worried about you.

Anne.

What my Neighbor said..:D

jmiller 02-06-2008 09:40 PM

well even though im a weather fanatic and love everything about it, my prayers go out for the families that lost loved ones or property. Ive watched this storm on every radar possible practically just weird weather patterns. Im in Florida and were in the 80s in Feb, were usually in 60s. I just hope this weather pattern is not a precursor of the upcoming season for those in tornado alley and east.

the Bird 02-06-2008 10:24 PM

It's pretty bad when you get an email asking if you are ok because a town 30 minutes from you was on the news!

And the sad part is you didn't know there was bad weather cause you don't listen to the radio or tv!!!

I'm OK!!! No damage here!

thav1 02-06-2008 10:25 PM

:rain::rain::rain::rain::rain::rain: Nothing but rain here in beautiful Washington State. My heart reaches out to all those effected by the storms in the heartland. It is absolutely awful.
