I really have enjoyed swapping post cards with board peoples, but to make it even more interesting I've made sure that I've "looked up" each and every place that I've had a post card from. I've tried to make sure that I've learnt a little off the Internet about every state I received a card from.
Here are a few things that I have learnt....in "no particular order"....... Houston's climate is classified as humid subtropical, and is recognized worldwide for its energy industry — particularly oil and natural gasses . NASA's Lyndon B Johnson's Space centre is also located here. This next part astounded me....over 90 languages are spoken in the city and Houston has among the youngest populations in the nation.....Wow! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ Kentucky is an inland state and is located in the East Central part of the USA. Climate is humid sub-tropical, and is Abraham lincoln's birth place. Apparently it has the world's longest cave system (I love caves....), and the highest per capita number of deer and turkey in the US, It's best known for it's thoroughbred horses and the Kentucky Derby! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ Washington State is said to have the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the USA, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River. Washington is a leading lumber producer and is rich in Douglas fir, hemlock, ponderosa and white pine, spruce, larch, and cedar. The state holds first place in apples, lentils, dry edible peas, hops, pears, red raspberries, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries, and ranks high in apricots, asparagus, grapes, peppermint oil, and potatoes. Other manufacturing industries in Washington include aircraft and missiles, shipbuilding and other transportation equipment ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have posted and received cards to and from all over the USA, so these 3 states are only 3 of many that I've looked up. What have you learned about other places that you didn't know before, because of the post card exchange ....? I don't want me to be the only contributer....so come on! .

I learned that Boston looks lovely from the air, and Utah has some gorgeous mountains, and incredible rock formations.
and that's there's a fabulous Mardi Gras in Shreveport... and that Marblehead Lighthouse is the OLDEST lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. ![]()

now THAT's ambition!
luckily, I live near the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, and near many old Maya ruins, caves, waterfalls, etc. and among some of the coolest critters in the world (except for the ol' wombats, Tasmanian Devils, koalas, kangaroos, and wallabys of you-know-who) we have Agoutis, Jaguarundis, Coatimundis, Ocelots, Jaguars, Toucans, Iguanas, Jesus Lizards, Scarlet Macaws, Tapirs, geckos, Harpy Eagles, Parrots, and so many more. so, it's easy to find postcards here... plus, if I tried to MAKE 'em, they'd never get done. ![]()
