Default We're home

I want to thank everyone who stood with me and my family through mom's surgery and the college shootings. Jim and I are finally home and getting settled.

Mom is so confused and the doctor said it will take time to get her back to normal once the swelling in her brain goes down. She is staying with my Aunt Mable against all of her kids wishes. She should be with my sister or cousin but she refused. She called me this morning confused about something that her and my sister worked out. Her short term memory is shot. I am almost tempted to tell my sister to go get her but quite honestly mom will put up a fight.

This surgery was a good thing but the recovery made her more ornery than ever. Pray that the swelling goes down soon and she gets back to normal. She thinks we are all treating her like she is dumb and we are not. It must be awful to not be able to remember things and I can only imagine how she feels.

My sister will be going there weekly to pass meds and help her pay her bills. We hope mom waits because at this time she shouldn't be doing anything without someone to help her.

Thanks again and pray with me that in a week or so she will be "mom" again.

So glad you had a safe trip home and now can be close for your
boys. I will say new prayers for mom and boys, as they must
feel so unsafe. Wishing you strength to keep dealing.

Sandy, I'm so glad ya'll are home. What a stressful few weeks you've had! I'm praying that your Mom has a speedy recovery and is back to herself soon.

How are your boys doing? I'm sure it will take some time for them to feel comfortable at their school again.

It's so good to see you posting again - get some rest and take care of yourself for a while now!

The boys are Ok and hanging in there. Chris has stayed at school to attend all the memorials and Nik is home but went up for the memorials. The Sunday memorial will be held live on CNN if anyone is interested. We wont be able to go because I have a doctors appointment early Monday so having it go live is nice. Jim has PTS from the shootings. He keeps thinking what if. He is coming to grips and feels better since he held Nik yesterday and talked with Chris.

Sandy, I just realized your sons went to NIU. I guess I knew this, but had not thought about it. I am so happy they are safe. I have not been on the compuer much since I have been visiting Texas. I know a few prof's that teach at NIU and they are also struggling. One friend was teaching at the same time and the PLS department teaches American Govt in that lecture hall. The academic environment is not going to be the same for a long time. I guess I better understand why EIU (my school) now sends students home if thet are determined to be a suicide risk. I also hope that your mother is doing better soon. Hugs to your entire family.

Always good to pull back into the driveway safe and sound. Glad you had a safe trip. I will keep your Mom in my prayers, she has been through a traumatic surgery, so let's just hope her memory will return and she'll be feisty Mom again. Take care and tell Jim I am keeping him in my prayers also. *your whole family*
