Wow, I know for a fact I have said all of these before except "it's all in your head." If someone said that to Jim it would be in their head when I was done with them! lol

Seriously, Jim and I don't let this type of talk bother us. Most people just don't know what to say and it's harmless in our opinion. After living with ms for almost 20 years we'd rather hear we look good than to hear "Man, you look like crap today!"

And yes, I have had that comment thrown at me before...haha

When I was younger and still dancing, I used to hate when someone would say.."You don't have MS, I know someone with MS and they're in a WC"...

My MIL actually said that to me.

I'm wiling to bet that the insane half of my family (a group of cousins and their parents that apparently disowned my dad and his sister in law after my grandmother died) probably dont believe that I have MS, if any of them know about it. (somehow they found out about it without me telling them)

They always seemed to think I was a hypochondriac just because my mom is one. I'm guilty by association because of her. So, I'm pretty sure they probably think I read something about it. If I ever see them again, I'll have to show them my "track marks" from shooting up the Copaxone every day. (that reminds me, I need to order more C)

I'm probably not being nice about calling them all nuts. I think one of my cousins is nuts from illegal drug use when she was a teenager, another one went nuts because his wife is a shrew, and the other cousin is probably pretty normal. Just doesnt live in the state any more.

Okay, not necessarily a saying, but this phrase is being overused on these forums:

"That being said....."

Sally, Michael and I weren't married yet when I was diagnosed, but we were dating and knew we would eventually be married. His Mum asked me what the cure was for MS when I was diagnosed. When I told her there wasn't one, she said, "surely there is, you just haven't been to the right Drs."

I was in school in NYC at the time, where some of the world's finest medical care is! I was furious. And, she kept telling Michael over and over that I wasn't getting "good care".

"Excuse my French, but..."

It's apologizing in advance for something we know is wrong to the listener. Why not just skip it and keep it clean?

I think it's the Kansas air. I'm sick of being home, and watching my husband watch basketball games all day. How long does this college basketball thing last?
