As I was setting the table I caught something shiny out of the corner of my eye. It was stuck in the crack where the wood flooring joins together. Our apartment is an older one and some of the wood planks have come loose, unfortunately this wasn't one that was loose enough to take out. So there I am on the floor with a small butter knife prying away when out comes this small clear shiny stone. I could see another one but couldn't get to it.
The first thing I think is it's a rhinestone that has come off clothing or something, but it is cut and shaped as though it came from a ring setting. Second thing I thought of was to find something glass and see if it cuts it. OMG I must have been crazy to think I could do this! Here I am holding onto this little stone with a pair of tweezers, and a magnifying glass when I start to have tremors in my hand lol After dropping it 3 times and spending almost 1/2 an hour trying to find it I finally come up with an idea! I cut the filter off of a cigarette so that I can hold onto this tiny stone. With the magnifying glass laying on a dark paper I did it! It cut the glass. I tried it twice just to be sure. Is there anything besides a diamond that cuts glass?lol I'm going to take it to a jeweler to have it checked out to be sure. If it is a diamond dh may just come home one day and the wood floor will be laying out front on the sidewalk! If it isn't what am I out? A magnifying glass? lol Think I might have watched too many If These Walls Could Talk shows. Susan
